The Runner's thread

Looks like a really cool place. How many miles of trails are around there?

Almost 20 miles, and they constantly cross through the main trail, The Cape Henry trail. A little bit of everything too. Headed back later today.

I paid $66 so I can park at any VA State Park. It's $4/5 here, I have two other parks nearby, my parents live near two, and there's like 4 near home in the Tri Cities. I think I'll earn my money.

Question: what kind of cross training (if any) do y'all do? I've started working on my core a lot more and wanting to figure out some good back exercises

I need to get back to cross training. I have let it slide for a long time now and I can tell a difference when I do let it slide. I feel like my pace is faster when a cross train.

Exactly my sentiment. I'm curious what others do, so that I might copy them

When I was cross training the only thing I was really doing was body weight exercises and resistance band stuff. I never really lifted weights that much because I didn't want to join a gym.

Anyone have a subscription of Runner's World? On the back is my friend Kyle in an ad for Under Armour, running in Iceland of all places - one of my dream destinations.

Yea I do bodyweight stuff. I need to find a good way to do box jumps. It's the only remain in my reason to have to go in the gym. I don't know why, but I don't like gyms

I am sure you could probably make some boxes at home to do box jumps on. I would think it would be pretty easy to do.

I do have a buddy that has all the necessary tools and saws to make some box jump platforms. Great idea.

And I wish I had looked at this sooner. I went through the last four Runner's World and couldn't find any UA ads, so I was getting curious.

also 4 miles in 37:15.

I ran in sand a lot looser than what you see in the 46 second mark for about 1.75 of the miles. I enjoy it. Sort of. It's great for training

You can actually make one that can be different heights depending on which side you lay it on.

That's what I'm looking at now. Trying to figure out the dimensions I'd want. I don't look the part. Heck, I don't look the part of a distance runner, but I can get up on my box jumps.
