The Runner's thread

Wow Vfb! That is a crazy stretch of races. Have fun!

I ran the Tobacco Road Half marathon yesterday in 1:40:35. New PR for me by 10 minutes!!

Sucks. Did you get a diagnosis?

I ran on the cruise last week and may have caught the bug again. 4.6 @ 7:59 this evening.

Not really. The Army isn't good st making a diagnosis at first. Motrin and 2 week profile. I was pretty surprised they did an X-ray, usually it's only done at a follow up. Should here back early next week (though I don't think it's Bone related).

Pretty unlikely to see something on x-ray. What exactly are your symptoms? Where's the pain, anything make it worse, point tenderness, instability, etc?

Oh I've hurt my left knee enough (torn meniscus and ACL) to know it's not bone related. To me, it reminds me of what my meniscus tear felt like without as much pain. It's funny, after a night of rest it almost feels fine, but as soon I start an activity (running itself doesn't hurt), I'm in pain.

The Doc gave me a calcium scrip (ridiculous if you ask me) and said they'd let me know what the X-ray shows (again, I don't think it'll show anything).

The ladies are starting to run in short shorts

Nothing like a trail run where you're bent over while climbing a hill and one of those ladies passes you, slowly. It's like Christmas.

Speaking of which, the 5K I ran this morning was a trail run at Mead's Quarry in South Knoxville. I didn't set any kind of personal record, but I did finish with a faster time than my very first 5K that was routed through a neighborhood in Turkey Creek on largely level, paved ground.

Columbia, SC to Charleston. 205 miles, six runners, six legs each (mid thirties total miles each), one driver who gets the MVP award, and one very smelly, dirty rental van. Palmetto 200 complete.

That is a long way for 6 people to run. Way to go VFB!

Sounds a lot like what I have. If I push it, I'll get a little walnut size swelling right below and to the outside of my knee cap.

It doesn't hurt while running. After about a week of rest it feels pretty good. Though I've noticed some pain with rotation

Mine is while running. Flares up anywhere from a mile to 3 miles. Makes it unbearable to run. But, nothing anyone can seem to diagnose. No issues or pain once I stop running.

Well my son has been wanting to run. so i ordered me a pair of running shoes. they should be here in a few days. what have i gotten myself into

An awesome adventure...

Seriously, stay upbeat and push yourself through it, not just for him, but you as well. In a couple of weeks you'll find you actually look forward to your runs

7 yesterday. Haven't been able to put the miles in like I have wanted to get ready for the Flying pig but it will all work out.

How is everyone else doing?

Yankee - I hope the knee is getting better in time for Nashville.

Thanks. I ran 5.85 yesterday and 2 today. Feeling a lot better. I'll run Nshville regardless

So I've been out walking and now running very short distances while out. Trying to walk and incorporate short runs in about 3 miles each morning.

Do any of you run with headphones. What kind? Mine just aren't staying in while running. Thanks.

I run with headphones.

I use jaybird bluetooth headphones. For something a little cheaper I haven't had any issues with the skullcandy ink'd. I would just try something similar with different sized silicone tips.
