The Scotty Hopson thread (merged)

i, starter of this thread, posted prior to your post. so good job on calling out scotty supporters bro. secondly, its called an off night. And you obviously know what your talking about when you call him out for a turnover game.... o wait... he had less turnovers tonight than his average for the season. good try though.

maybe the pitt game was an on night?

Regardless, lol at this thread, you weren't expecting last night to happen....

I want to see Hopson have 6 back to back performances like At Pitt in March.

Until then he will be the most over hyped player to ever play at UT and will continue to fall short of expectations.

If you expect him to score 27 every game in the NCAA tournament you will be disappointed. However, he did revert back to some old habits last night.

I like the swagger Tennessee's been playing with this year, but I think they needed a reality check. Gotta give it to Bdub and Goins though, they played hard.

So what was Indianapolis?

If this team decides it doesn't want to show up, play its ass off on the defensive end of the court, in games they 'should' win, we are in trouble because there are a lot of bad teams in the SEC.

If we beat Kentucky and Florida, but lose to the Ole Miss and Auburns, I am not going to see this season as a success.

Plus once we get into the tourney and play some scrub in the first round, and don't show up (like we have at times this year and in the past) we wont be in the Elite Eight again. I wish and hope this team has a killer instinct every night. We are going to beat people with our defense, not our scoring, and you can't do that by just showing up.

So was this another on night for Hopson or was it an off night?

I'm confused.

Me thinks this might have been a little premature. He was slumping his shoulder and dipping his head tonight. He was not focused.

I don't know what you're talking about. He had a great two minute stretch toward the end of the game.

Simple and obvious. This team goes as Hopson goes. That is bad news. He does not show up mentally.... We loose. We need others to step up for when hopson decides to take the night off. Not a hater.... Just hard to watch him sleep through games. GBO!!!

A little premature with this thread. Probably should have waited until SEC play anyway to start this one. Scotty has made progress but still has lapses. Tennessee needs him to take control of this team and lead. That means no disappearing acts every other game.

i didnt get to see the game (first night back from college for xmas break). statwise he wasnt AWFUL. another bad shooting night, but i mean 19 shots means he was at least trying? ha what happened?

I remember debating with numerous posters about the play of Scotty Hopson over the years, and my main response was always to "give him time." Now, Hopson is off to an extremely good start, and i have a question.

Who is man enough to eat their crow and say they were wrong about Hopson?

If you still aren't convinced, what will it take to convince you that Hopson is a great player and has begun performing on a consistant basis against every form of talent?

So the real question is: are you ready to eat crow?

He did try last night, but was ice cold. He didn't start driving until too late. Not a good game on D either.

Hopson has shown steady improvement since hes been here. IMO its been slow, relative to his status coming in. He has become a solid college player, which is short of the expectations.
