The shut down thread

Look dude I’m telling you what I saw him tell hannity on the campaign trail, bottom line is he will get the funding out if the defense budget and there’s nothing anyone can do about it
Do you realize how many pending military projects would have to be canceled to come with $5.6 billion? He can do it... but that also comes with some risk politically.

I have. I have had the flu a few times. My brother and mother died of cancer. My uncle died of heart disease, and my father-in-law is a diabetic, and is going blind, and has neuropathy. So, I have been impacted by all the above.

Then going back to AV's original question you can see how the shutdown doesn't affect him or me but may have big time implications for others. .

Out of 700 billion? Lmao
For the military to build the wall, that would qualify as a military construction project, and there is currently not anywhere near $5 billion appropriated for that. So, if Trump decides to use the military, he will have to pull money already set aside for another project and use it for the wall. However, to do that would require approval from Congress... So, once again, you are screwed.

This is how our government works. A President can't rob Peter to pay Paul around here without getting approval from Congress.

$5B has been spent in the past two years on improper ACA credits the law does not allow the IRS to recoup. We could start there.

These newbies will be gone after one term and we’ll regain the house and add to the senate again, I can wait it out.
Take your horse and buggy and go for a relaxing ride through the countryside.

All he has to do is declare a state of national emergency to get the funding out of the military budget, he doesn’t need congress for that and with the influx of drugs and human trafficking it’s inevitable that the wall, fence, barrier will be built. 👍👍

Of course he does. Your post drove home the point perfectly. We have so many posters on here who claim concern only with things that have an immediate and direct impact on their wallet (unless of course it's over some gender/bathroom issue, then it's a sign of the apocalypse.)

Much more likely to happen: Democrats retain the House in 2020... and Republicans retain the Senate but they will lose a seat - Corey Gardner (Colorado) is burned toast and he knows it.

You guys are are the party of insanity, it’s been two ****ing years and you still won’t accept the fact Trump won..😂

Of course we accept that he won. We just don't accept him as a leader and even less as a person.

It's not that simple. He can allocate whatever money is currently in the budget for military construction and not designated for anything else and build the wall. The estimates I have seen are anywhere from $1.5 to $2.3 billion. If he wants more than that, he will have to reallocate money from another project - and to do that, he would need Congressional approval. The Democrats have put $1.6 billion on the table... he should take it.

As far as relaxing goes I’m enjoying a nice bowl of Kushberry, you should try it some time. ✌️
Those days are over, at least until all the kids are out of the house. You're quite the enigma, I always considered it mind opening not mind closing.
