The shut down thread

Clearly, this is a crisis and if we don't build an expensive symbol of wasteful government, things might get as bad as they were in....the early 2000's? On second thought, things were actually pretty good back then, so let's tell some scary anecdotal stories about how an immigrant is going to bash your head in with a hammer if we don't have a wall.

Yes, seeking asylum (especially where the law provides that anyone physically present in the US can seek asylum) and going to Disney are clearly on all fours.
so what were they doing here until they applied for asylum? It shouldn't be a get out of jail free card. that's almost a literal statement here. It should be for people in need. if you have too many use it eventually it hurts those who actually need it.

Stop living in fear. Some people are not great people. Some small fraction of them are bad enough to do something like this. Policies that are major interruptions to the market and infringe on general freedom are not a good response to stopping this small fraction of bad people. A big expensive wall that won't do anything to stop these bad people from harming Americans is not a good response.

If any of you really cared about improving border security, you would support ending the war on drugs and bans on prostitution at least half as much as you support this monument to stupidity. Those are real solutions and they don't cost us anything. We'd save $. We'd even generate it.

Ok. And how does that give you foreign policy experience with Russia. Let's not lose sight of that. She said that was the basis of her foreign policy experience.
Point taken. I lost my attraction for Palin when she and other social conservatives destroyed the Tea Party.

However, at least she didn't hand Putin a reset button.

Oh no. Spending many times more the gibs of money on absolute trash is clearly the way to go. Of course you’re the guy who refuses to condemn the raping of 6-year olds as long as an illegal does the raping so I’m not surprised in your retardation.

I don’t care if it’s a “Wall” or not but we do need majorly beefed up security. Everyone should be on board with that.

I see that you've been huffing the spray paint a little earlier than usual today. Typically you don't start making things up and hurling ad homs until after your caretaker has made you breakfast and securely fastened your hockey helmet. I don't disagree with added security but a wall is simply treating the symptom, the cause needs to be dealt with and a $6b theatrical band-aid to make Trump feel better about his tiny hands is asinine.

whats the real issue here, whatever it is we can't fix it? Even if we do as Huff wants and end the war on drugs, the rest of the world isn't going to be at Murika levels. we are still going to draw people here. we apparently have a literal Hitler racist, rapist in office and those he supposedly hates are still literally fighting to come here.

I know the left's talking point is to always say "stop living in fear" I don't live in fear you hack but I do recognize we don't need a wide open border like you liberals want. I want a fence or wall whatever in the hell you want to call it doesn't matter to me. I want e-verify. I want drones. I want it to be a felony to hire an illegal. I want it to be banned giving any illegal any government handout. I want more border agents.

People need to be vetted and come here LEGALLY. Recently people on your side have said the same thing, now for whatever reason they have changed their minds.

Take away the incentive for them to come here in the first place, devise an e-verify system that works and then make it a felony to employ illegals. There's always been a resistance to making the penalties for employing illegals stiff and it's because they don't really care - they've never been serious about this and don't be fooled, neither is trump. The only reason he cares about it now is that he fears looking weak and because it controls the news cycle. He's already capitulated once and Mattis stated explicitly said he'd given up on it months ago. It wasn't until he had his pants pulled down by right wing pundits that he grew a backbone.

don't look for e-verify to gain any teeth as long as Trump's buddies in the US Chamber of Commerce continually turn a blind eye to the hiring of illegals

America, the land of the free...where you can be charged with a felony for hiring someone.

Stop trying to control everything with an iron fist.

Looks like the partial government shutdown will continue......on & on & on.
Big Wheel in the Sky keeps on turning.....so carry on with your life as usual.
