The shut down thread

Clearly, this is a crisis and if we don't build an expensive symbol of wasteful government, things might get as bad as they were in....the early 2000's? On second thought, things were actually pretty good back then, so let's tell some scary anecdotal stories about how an immigrant is going to bash your head in with a hammer if we don't have a wall.

An online campaign set up to raise money using Pierce Corcoran's name is a scam, according to a Twitter account run by members of his family.

The first indication the GoFundMe is fraudulent is that the fundraising page says it was started by user "Jesus Christ" of Knoxville.

Funny this is the same argument the anti gun crowd uses anytime we have a school shooting.

And before you go all, we have a right to own guns and these people don’t have one to be here, I agree and understand. Just the debate tactic is the same. It’s lazy.

I've got a question that may have already been asked and if so please point me in that direction because I'm genuinely curious.

If we (doesn't matter how, alien tech from Area 51, whatever) could in fact spend 6B and put up a barrier that essentially eliminated illegal border crossings how many people would still be against it? If so, why?

That’s not the interview I saw but it’s wording get’s close and it is similar to Katie Curic’s. She had two on separate occasions. The newspaper interview was as ridiculous.

I continue to wonder why such a capable guy, who would have been a good POTUS in my opinion, could pick such a fool as a running mate.

I couldn’t vote for her who would have been a heartbeat from the Presidency McCain didnlive longer as it happened but you can’t be sure

$6b of anti personal mines would accomplish that goal. Is your alien tech of the lethal or non lethal variety? Maybe just some bouncing Betty's?

Obama declared a national emergency entitled, "Blocking Property of Persons Threatening the Peace, Security, or Stability of Yemen" in order to freeze the assets of anyone perceived to be negatively impacting a political transition in Yemen, VOA reported. In 2014, the 44th president issued a national emergency referred to as "Blocking Property of Certain Persons Contributing to the Situation in Ukraine," which similarly locked the assets of those thought to be undermining democratic processes in Ukraine. These are just two of many internationally-oriented states of emergency that Obama declared while in office.

Obama Declared National Emergencies As President — But Not To Secure Wall Funding

Newsflash. Obama has been out of office for approx 2 years. Continuing to switch off Trump to Obama is not only old but a very weak reply

But since you brought him up Obama is eminently more suited for the job of POTUS than Trump and in fact the last several few Presidents

And before you bring her up, Hillary is gone to. Hopefully she will not try to run again, Trey Gowdy has made her his obsession in trying to find anything to hang on her. Gordy is s very competent Prosecutor. So if there was anything to Lynch her on he would have assured it got done. No cigar

Move on to the President. Thanks to inept lawyering we now know the Trump campaign colluded with the Russians in their desire to get Trump elected as POTUS

Even if they did work with the Russians, it still isn’t illegal.

I was thinking non lethal but for the sake of covering the question thoroughly people can address both options individually.

At ~$3 a piece, $6B would buy 2,000,000,000 anti-personnel mines. With 700 unwalled miles of the border (5,280 ft x 700) there are roughly 3,696,000 linear feet of mine'able ground. Just to make it interesting, let's deepen the mineable to a half mile. We're now at 9,757,440,000 sq ft. - enough to put one mine every 5 sq ft, roughly.

So am I putting you down for a yes of the viability and implementation of a lethal area defense boundary? At the very least you seem to think it viable.
