The Star Wars 8 SPOILER thread.

Anyone else notice Ewan McGregor at the Golden Globes? He's sporting the Obi-Wan beard, and on social media he's been working with Tony Horton doing P90X.

Hmmmmm....

Think Christopher Nolan would be great at Star Wars

Christian Bale is a big Star Wars fan and was offered the role Woody Harrelson got in Solo. He said it just didn’t work out but he would love to have a role in a future SW movie.

He'd be great in a Star Wars movie as long as he didn't have to talk like Batman

1. The flying through space like Peter Pan terrible.
2. The first meeting of Luke and he just throws the light saber behind his back and kind of smirks, I mean this is probably the biggest moment in SW movie history and you make a joke about it? terrible
3. rose................TERRIBLE
4. YOU MEAN TO TELL ME THATS HOW LUKE DIES? THATS HOW LUKE FFFFING SKYWALKER DIES like that?
5. Luke's force ghost? wtf is that?
6 Luke drinking tit milk? that's weird and what's the point?

this whole movie just seems like a troll, it literally ruins starwars. TFA was ok, R1 one was great. This is the worst movie in the franchise.

You cant be a huge SW fan and like this, no way you're ok with ending the legacy of Luke Skywalker like that.

Star Wars was the backdrop to my entire childhood. I was 6 when the first one came out and can still remember seeing it at west town.
I loved TLJ. Had some corny moments, sure, but so did they all. Best script of the saga other than ESB. This story had the most consequences for the characters.
The “death” of Skywalker didn’t bother me. He gave himself over in a way that echoed Obi Wan in ANH.
Just my 2 cents.
May the force be with you all.

It’s been a month now and I’ve yet to meet a person in my day to day life that didn’t like the movie. The only common complaint I’ve heard is they felt the humor was a little forced at times. None have hailed it as the best or even on par with the original.

Edit: Except the buddy I saw it with the first time who I’ve mentioned before. He didn’t hate it but wasn’t overly thrilled either. Of course it took him 3 viewings of Rogue One to come around to that one even.

I don't get the problem with how Luke went out. One of the constant themes of SW has been sacrifice for others. His death really isn't much different than Obi-Wan's. Sure he used a new trick but he was buying time so his friends could escape, just like Obi-Wan did with Vader. Obi-Wan knew he wasn't going to beat Vader or escape.

I don’t understand why a handful of people are throwing such a fit over this.

I thought it was a great, unpredictable moment, and it pretty well sums up Luke’s character at that point.

Because it was unexpected and people cant handle things that dont fit what they had in their mind going in.

I agree 100% with all of this. Every word.

Also to add to it. I share Joe Rogan's sentiments on the movie as well...

Meh... anyone that walked out of that complaining about it being too diverse has their own issues.

I felt the diversity in Spider-Man Homecomig was a bit forced, even though it probably was more accurate for a high school in 2018 NY vs 1963, but that is because they took a handful of classic supporting characters and race swapped them. It didn’t ruin the movie for me but it didn’t feel organic to me because I am so close to the source material.

Contrast that to TLJ which is populated by new characters in a galaxy with aliens of all kinds. To cry that about 2 women (one of whom is a classic character) were in charge and there were Black and Asian people is YOU problem not a movie problem.

Hey, you're entitled to your opinion but so am I. I agree with what Joe Rogan says in this clip. The attempt to maintain diversity throughout this saga is extremely heavy-handed and obvious. Episode 7 and 8 had exactly TWO white male protagonists to root for, Han and Luke. Now where are they? They've been killed off. EVERY SINGLE character we've been introduced to on the side of the resistance now is either female or minority...

Rey (white female)
Fin (black)
Poe (Latino)
Rose (Asian female)
Mas (voiced by a black female)
Amilyn Holdo (white female)
Leia (white female)
Lieutenant Conix (whilte female)

And now the only major white males left in this film are General Weasley (Hux) and Kylon Ren. Not exactly the most relatable characters in the saga I would say.

Even Rogue One is this way. All of the white males in this film are either shown as bumbling incompetents or a$$holes and, once again, our two main heroes are a female (Jyn Erso) and a Hispanic (Cassian Andor), along with a supporting cast featuring 2 Asians (Chirrut Imwe and Baze Malbus), 1 black character (Saw Gerrera), and 1 of Pakistani decent (Bodhi Rook).

Call me racist. Call me white supremacist. I don't care. But if you can't see the absolute clear and calculated decision to marginalize white male characters in this saga, you're blind. Now I'm just waiting for the first "LBGT" character to be introduced, because you KNOW it's coming.
