The State of the Union Speech..

Bush goes from bumbling moron to evil mastermind and back amazingly often. For such a moron he certainly was able to control virtually everything - including hurricanes...

Everything wrong with this country is Bush's fault and his alone. No one else had anything to do with it. Until all of these problems turn, it is Bush's fault. The moment things change for the better will be the moment in time Obama attaches his name to it. And we sit back and wait for that magical moment in time.

He doesn't cause hurricanes, he just delays relief for 3 days. The US got stuff to Haiti faster than our own country...

Really? According to the rest of the world, we've caused all sorts of problems and we're taking over Haiti. It's the 51st state.

As far as the recent election, that democrat in Boston was a horrible candidate and she didn't deserve to win. Not sure if it reflects sentiments nationwide, although the media reports it that way...

And I believe what I type for the same reason everyone else does. It's my opinion.

On Martha Coakley, I can agree. I was shocked when she became the front runner. Mike Capuano would have ran a better campaign against Brown and would likely have been elected. I have always regarded Coakley as an absolute hack...I'm glad she didn't get that seat.

You really believe he delayed relief?

How much of the disaster that Katrina brought goes on the shoulders of the local idiots who ran the city? Granted their was a breakdown on just about every level but much of the disaster could have been mitigated by competent local government.

As in, pondering whether we should send it or not

Was it a problem of deciding if we could send it or not or was it a problem of a) making sure it was safe to send relief workers in b) access to the areas hardest hit c) having the resources available and ready to aid those in need?

granted this is from wiki:

In accordance with federal law, President George W. Bush directed the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, Michael Chertoff, to coordinate the Federal response.

A CNN/USAToday/Gallup poll showed that respondents disagreed widely on who was to blame for the problems in the city following the hurricane — 13% said Bush, 18% said federal agencies, 25% blamed state or local officials and 38% said no one was to blame.

Much less red tape to go through to get stuff out of the country.:good!:

Of course, this was after he urged Gov Blanco to go through the procedures so that it could be declared a federal disaster sooner.

The debacle that was the Katrina evacuation had issues at all levels and both parties.

Katrina = failure of gov't as a whole.

You know Major, the same gov't you want expanded every time you vote.....

#65
#65
the governor and major were to blame for katrina. that and the idiots that refused to leave.

Yes. The same government people want to run their healthcare....

"We cannot handle knowing a hurricane is coming and to prepare for it. But we'd love for you to put your lives in our hands."

Like I said, it was a total failure by gov't as a whole.

Gov't = failure and you people keep voting for it!

And we cannot handle sharing intel on people proclaiming to want to kill us all but we want to share medical records and healthcare as a whole for anywhere from 30 to 300 million Americans....

Bush doesn't hate black people, and he didn't delay relief to screw people intentionally. I just think the "is it worth salvaging" assessment took too long...

But let's get back on topic before Tex drops the hammer down.

How the hell this thread got derailed and changed to talking about Katrina is beyond me.

I think it's pretty obvious. it's because the Saints are in the Super Bowl and Katrina is such fresh news.

btw, I think you have to add your poll at the beginning of the thread. don't think you can catch up mid-stream.
