The State of the Union Speech..

I'll say this, from an insurance perspective, it looks to be awfully expensive for a wind farm to maintain operations in the first place. Those premiums are through the roof.

there are very few windfarm projects that would be profitable without federal subsidies. we have huge natural gas reserves here and the price is cheap and it burns clean. it's the obvious solution

Interesting email I just got:

Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline University School of Law, St. Paul , Minnesota , points out some interesting facts concerning last November's Presidential election:

Number of States won by: Obama: 19 McCain: 29
Square miles of land won by: Obama: 580,000 McCain: 2,427,000
Population of counties won by: Obama: 127 million
McCain: 143 million
Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by:
Obama: 13.2 McCain: 2.1

Professor Olson adds: "In aggregate, the map of the territory McCain won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of the country.

Obama territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in low income tenements and living off various forms of government welfare..."

Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the "complacency and apathy" phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some forty percent of the nation's population already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase.

It certainly could be ... it could also suggest a funding initiative in the future to push the Generation IV Nuclear Energy Systems (or perhaps research for a Generation V ).

The part I liked most is how he mentioned that 2 million new jobs have been created - 200,000 of which are construction and clean energy (or was it green jobs?). I love it. What percentage of those 200,000 do you think are pure construction? I'm going with 95%.

I bet it's up there, but those are the easiest jobs to make quickly, "Shovel ready" jobs, etc. The work force is also ready because the housing slump. No real training involved either because they likely already have the skills.

You believe everything you get in email?

My point is that he lumped the clean energy jobs in with the biggest job creation sector (construction) to make them seem bigger, which I found pretty funny considering how they have been pimping them.

I would say it is 100% accurate.

No self respecting human being would vote for the POS in the white house.

I guess I coulda gone all gsvol and post the whole thing including comments and links to random other bits of information.

Ungrateful whats yall are! I swear!

The part that I find hilarious is that it would have been a lot easier to sell the hoax email if they had just avoided the states won part all together. It is too easy to prove that part completely wrong - which just encourages you to go check the rest of the stats.

man, you pegged me VolInMn! I actually posted it just to piss you off. Did it work?

Seriously, it was just sent to me and I thought it'd be intereting to see the reaction to it. I guess I found what I was looking for.

No chief, I'm not pissed off. I just get a kick out of people who perpetuate things like this. Normally, posting something you know isn't true for the purpose of getting a reaction is called "trolling". ;)

I've been here for a while scooter. I think my record speaks for itself when it comes to terms like "trolling".

I'd be willing to put my reputation as an avid contributor of reasonable conversation with a slight touch of sarcasam against anyone including the likes of someone such as yourself. Might want to check up on the reins before you go spurring that pony you're on into the river.
