The Thread Where People Argue About Kneeling in the NFL (merged)

Nobody in the NFL is saying anything about combat vets, nor are they intending any disrespect to you or your friends or any other fallen soldiers. Most, if not all of them have acknowledged appreciation for your service and the service of others.

Your negative perception is a choice on your part. The decision to get fired up about peope on TV or what I say is also a choice. Absolutely none of that has any tangible negative effect on you. It doesn't result in you needing stitches, or being tazored, it doesn't result in you getting handcuffed, spending a night in jail, or taking money out of your pocket to hire an attorney.

So, yes, if you CHOOSE to get your panties in a bunch over a slight that you CHOSE to perceive in a way that it's clearly not intended, then "delicate flower" is 100% appropriate, and "rosey" seems like the most fitting adjective for your hindparts.

🌸

It would seem a good portion of the general public disagrees with your opinion. Your negative perception is a choice on your part. The decision to get fired up about people on TV or what I say is also a choice. Absolutely none of that has any tangible negative effect on you.

Basically, you're mad because people don't like it, funny. It actually looks like you are projecting in part, someone disagrees with your opinion is not okay, but if you disagree with theirs, that's fine.

If the opinion is about what exactly the NFL players are protesting against, there is one group with the answer, and that's the players themselves. Choosing to ignore that is not a "difference of opinion," it's willful ignorance.

Well, since I don't think there is protest, we'll just have to agree to disagree -- rage on if you must. I doubt anyone buys what you are sell, but good luck and all.

We have different views of reality. Mine is the correct one.

Knee takers and those who defend them, like you, can not tell me how I, and the many millions of folk who agree with me, what we should "choose" to see when they disrespect the nation, the flag, and all the millions of Americans who died for the very freedoms to "take a knee". They can do it that way, but I don't want to hear a word they say. They can **** their own nest if they want.
I'm done with the NFL.

So post your cute little flowers jerkwad. You can still kma.

Go on now. Post me some more flowers.

This reads like someone saying, "I don't think there was a Holocaust. Agree to disagree."

I mean, ok, but that's not so much a "disagreement" as it is, again, willfully placing your head in the sand

This reads like "the writer is a moron".

Just an observation, this stuff you are selling stopped working a few years ago -- disregard if you must.

If your view is that they are "protesting America," then no, it's not.

Plenty of the millions of Americans who served in the military are supporting the players as we speak, and many of them are angry at the way they are being used as a political football.

Why is that in quotes? Why would I say "The writer is a moron?"

Or did you just mess up that rhetorical device? You know, like a moron would? Lol.

I'm just messing with you though, I'm not calling anyone a moron here.

It was a statement, not a question.

All in good fun. :hi:

no no No NO! I do NOT think they are "protesting America". It started with the BLM and has snowballed.

I DON'T CARE what cause they are trying to draw attention to by protesting during a ceremony where the anthem is played and the flag displayed. And for those who think like me (millions on millions) those are mere symbols of all who have lived and died to make this country free. Burn the flag at a protest, I don't care. Poor choice in my opinion, but they are free to do it. But the anthem and flag ceremony represents to me and millions a way to honor those who died, many horribly. Over a quarter million in the Union army died to end slavery and to give us those freedoms.

The players are pissing in their own pockets when they disrespect those fallen to make the flag and anthem ceremony about anything, ANYTHING, else.

What the players should have been doing is find ways to use all the various media to get their message across. TV specials, radio interviews, TED talks, twitter, FB, etc, etc.

Instead, they double down on trying to tell me I shouldn't see taking a knee as disrespect. It is. They're wrong.

Take it outside the stadium and most folk can get behind you.

As an aside. There are three mixed race marriages in my close family. My sister is married to a black minister, one cousin married a Tiawanese, another married a Japanese. There are five mixed race children. I am WELL AWARE of the difficulties non whites face.

Out of curiosity, what is you opinion of the veterans that have spoken out in support of players taking a knee.

Such s this WWII vet....
WWII vet takes a knee in solidarity with NFL players

Is his view of the world “wrong” ?

Some people disagree -- why does everyone have to agree.

Not sure what is so hard about this. They can take a knee, sit in the toilet, hide behind asses, sit, perform man hugs, stand, etc. Other people can do a real protest and stop watching, stop paying for it, stop going, stop supporting it with tax dollar or special treatment.

There is nothing legally "wrong" with either side, there really is no "problem".

Imo, yes his view walks on those of his generation who died for our freedoms.

Because you can do something doesn't mean you should.

People do bad things sometimes with good reasons. They do good things for wrong reasons, they do good things for good reasons.

I see taking a knee as a bad thing for good reasons, and I will never accept the bad thing. It disrespects those fallen.

I don't understand where these assumptions are coming from:

1. That I'm mad.
2. That I don't think it's okay for people to disagree with me.

You'll have to explain.

The way I worded it is poorly done (actually it wasn't a reply to or meant to be), please accept my apology. :hi:

The old man in your post, nothing wrong with his opinion, just one guys opinions. Doesn't really necessarily mean much though, everyone has an opinion.

What are your thoughts on how Green Beret veteran Nate Boyer is the one who sat down with Kaep and suggested he take a knee, rather than sitting, so as to not be disrespectful?
