The Thread Where People Argue About Kneeling in the NFL (merged)

Ok I’ll conceed on the Browns, Bears, and Colts probably, based on their demonstrated performance. Might debate the rest. Cutler is horrible. But so was Kapernick at the start of all this. Kapernick was better at his peak for sure. But I had forgotten how decimated the position was with injuries even with the low QB play.

Man you sure seem to have a lot of info handy for not being a fan...😬

Cutler was retired.

I play fantasy football. I could have used Kap on my team at the end of the season. I ended up getting lucky and got Nick Foles to barely get me in the playoffs.

You play fantasy football but don’t watch?! I’ve honestly never heard of anybody doing that. I played FF to get more interest in all the games other than just the ones I cared about. Both interest in NFL and FF have just diminished over time. Not because of all this. Just a natural progression with general dissatisfaction with the No Fun League. College is a better game to me.

When did I say I didn't watch?

Point is, had it not been for the knee episode and Che T-shirt, Kaepernick would have been a starter in Miami.

We’re not in disagreement on this point. Stop beating me over the head with it. I concede he could have been and probably would be for the three at least we agreed on due to overall “meh” QB talent and injuries on top.

But on you’re “not a fan” stance... you play FF, you watch the games, but since you don’t buy tickets or merchandise you’re not a fan? Thin bro, pretty thin. But meh in the big scheme I guess.

You don't understand the difference between being a "fan" and being a gambler?

Jim Harbaugh leaving helped to kill his career. But the 49ers didn't give him much help on offense, either.

Then why watch?

I don't watch as much as you even think. Really. Maybe (maybe) collectively 3-4 hours per week during the season... I mean between Thurs night and Mon night. I would say most of that is while I'm way from home and a game is on at one of the local restaurants while I'm eating. I can't remember the last time I turned on a TV in my house and watched a full game. I have watched the tail end of games at home to see if my player either finished strong enough to get me a win for the week.

meh. People on here cheer on Elon Musk for launching a car all the while thinking he did it out of his own pocket.

You're barking up the wrong tree if you want to try to start an argument regarding the NFL and patriotism. You and Ras can have a bash fest with that one all by yourselves, because I really don't care.

I’m not staring an argument, just stating facts.

There’s no shortage of information out there confirming the NFL (and other sports leagues) took millions from the DoD to promote patriotism.

This.

The NFL and RedZone are background noise on Sunday while doing all the housework that didn’t get done on Saturday because I binged on CFB from noon to midnight.

I don't have a problem with it any more than most people on here have no problem with Elon Musk taking subsidies to launch a car into orbit.

Same with redzone for me. I dont watch Thursday or Monday unless the dolphins are playing.

it has little to do with the kneeling and most to do with normal life routine of being a parent.

I'll skip the first ten minutes of redzone so I dont have to hear about kneel cams

If you would have seen the wreckage they put behind centers last year, you would know that Kaepernick was clearly better than those guys. It was quite obvious that the league was avoiding him.

Frick yeah, avoid him! And all the rest of the kneelers.

Better yet, .. just avoid the frickin NFL.

ALL lives matter!

Yeah, that's the intelligent position. Condemn a group of 1600 people over the actions of less than 20.

Conservatives don't understand how dumb they look when badmouthing the NFL.

I ask this question often to knucklehead conservatives: Would you stop going to your church if you found out a couple of your congregants were having extra-marital affairs?

Kinda like when liberals bad mouth southerners by calling them uneducated, and deplorable. Then sit around wondering why they lost? Your side is just as bad screaming peace and tolerance, then pitching a fit when someone disagrees, or chooses to believe something different. I'm independent, but more conservative, but I haven't banned anything. You guys live to lump everyone into the same mindset, but get offended when it's done to you.

Absolutely if the church were to promote that as an acceptable behavior and it was pushed into your face every time to stepped inside the doors. I would exercise my right to go seek another church.

Every time you turned on a game especially early on in the season that's all you had thrown into your face with folks defending it and the NFL essentially going silent on it making it appear acceptable.

Nobody watches football to have all of this political stuff shoved in your face. They watch football (or any other sport) to get away from all of the political stuff.

With these guys being in the limelight they have a multitude of avenues to express their opinions and make a difference in the world outside of game day. To me it may have been a noble cause but they chose a poor way to promote it.
