The Thread Where People Argue About Kneeling in the NFL (merged)

People never say shat just to cover up other shat huh? "I have NEVER hit my wife"!

So what, you think they are trying to protest the military despite them saying a hundred times that's not what it's about? What would be their motive to do so and lie about their reasoning?

I've said it before, I think a lot of these players are just participating in a fad to virtue signal in their own way, but you guys are contorting yourselves trying to make this into something it's not and wallow in your own faux outrage and virtue signaling.

Snowflakes all around.

I have never said they were "trying" to protest the military. I said that, in my opinion they disrespect the soldier presenting the colors.
Get my position right or STFU.

You said in the post I quoted, "people never try covering shat up, right?" That implies they are being purposefully duplicitous about their intentions and lying to cover up their true motives/designs. At least, to anyone with a competent grasp of the English language.

Never imagined it would be the right wing twisting in the wind to defend their delicate sensibilities and having to justify why they are so offended.

Don't ASSume what I meant. They started saying that when people started calling them out on the method of protest.

I never said it was their intention. It is a by product and you can stick way you "imagine" the right up your arse.

Is it always a soldier presenting the colors?

Sadly, there can only be 2 answers to that question. If it is "yes", then that only reinforces my belief that the flag has become a prop for military brainwashing. If the answer is "no" (which was stated earlier in this thread when we were shown that govt workers such as park rangers and postal workers have presented the colors), then that makes your "disrespect the soldier" comment above look pretty silly.

Dude, they are coming out and saying they are protesting law enforcement. What makes you think they would back down from calling out the military if they had a grievance with them?
At what point does this become counterproductive to what you re trying to accomplish tho.

They have grabbed plenty of attention over this for months with very little of that focused on LE.

At some point it's not about just making noise but who is actually paying attention to it.

This entire issue seems fairly simple.

The players have the right to peacefully protest.

The owners have the right to make their own standards of conduct and discipline those who do not follow said standards.

The fans who are offended by the protests have the right to stop watching the games.

Spot on

I'm glad you pointed out that it represents all the people and didn't just single out the military.

But just curious, we have public officials, law enforcement officers and soldiers that make an oath to uphold the Constitution. At what point are we going to hold them accountable for not doing so?

How do we hold them accountable? We the people just doesnt hold the power it once did. We lost the ability to hold those people accountable a long time ago.

If they were so concerned with police brutality, they’d proactively advocate for change in the communities experiencing it. How many have sought change during the off-season, by taking their qualms to the root of the problem?

I’ve asked this before without an answer - they don’t do this, why?

Maybe because their antics have nothing to do with what they’re saying it does, only using a platform, which they don’t deserve, to garner attention.

NFLers kick off multicity social justice campaign

NFL's Players Coalition members may be giving up protests, but activism, advocacy continue

NFL, Players Coalition reach accord to provide nearly $90 million to aid activism; anthem protests unresolved

Completely agree.

They have a platform because they worked hard to get where they are. There's not a single thing undeserved about it.

Agreed. They have the platform bc, just like anyone else who has it, it was given to them. You may not like it, but it’s not their fault, what they say is put in the paper.

No, they don’t “deserve” this platform to “protest” in such a way that doesn’t reach the apogee of effectiveness. Being a professional athlete warrants them the platform of a field to perform on, not the platform to misrepresent their sh!t show. I mean, aren’t you a staunch Trump hater, and don’t you squeal over his misrepresentations and incredulous rants? Does he not have that right, without being questioned about his intentions and veracity? Oh, but being POTUS is different, right?

The participants are attention-seeking, spoiled ass brats.

Where do you draw the line as an employer. Maybe others come out cross dressed to protest treatment if gays next. You got guys kneeling over here, wearing dresses over there but wait...another group of players wants to protest marijuana being illegal. Now you have a real circus.

No just no. Uniform stuff has all been covered in the CBA. What you aren’t understanding is that when it comes to player punishment the CBA makes the players an equal partner. They have to agree to it. It’s why the NFL backed off on the claim that they would leave punishment up to the teams for kneeling going into this season. The NFLPA said we will sue your ass and you will lose. That’s why they backed down.

Now the players are dumb bc this is hurting league revenue. If it continues it will lower the total salary pool.

Look, I've never said what they are doing is productive or effective. But to mischaracterize it as an attack on the military is down right silly.

You should rage on social media or virtue signal like most of these guys are doing against these football players. I would be happy just for these other people to get the same level of outrage.

They have a platform in that millions of people and several media outlets follow them and pay attention to them, because they are well-known public figures. They 100% earned that. Millions of people pay attention to the President as well, no matter who it is, and in doing what it took to win the Presidency, Donald Trump earned that platform as well.

Neither of them had fame bestowed upon them, they made themselves famous. It's not that difficult, but feel free to rant on about whatever the hell else you want.

I was generally curious what you thought given some of your previous takes in this thread. I'm not implying anything.

They have succeeded in making this about them now, regardless of whether they intentionally trying to disrespected the military or not.
