The Thread Where People Argue About Kneeling in the NFL (merged)

Well first off, I'm nowhere near a fan of LBJ, but I still cannot wrap my brain around why so many people get their panties in a wad over a flag or an anthem in the United States of America. There is nothing in the founding documents or anything spoken by the Founding Fathers or anything in the Constitution that says that an individual has to bow down to a piece of cloth or to a piece of music in order to be an American.

I swear, just like the left forces me to defend Donald trump, you conservatives put me in a position where I have to defend people like LeBron James and Colin Kaepernick.
Symbols are a rallying point for people. Flags are nothing but symbols. It is what they respesent that people are so passionate about. The flag is just a piece of cloth but the thirteen colonies that stood up and demanded their freedom that the thirteen stripes represent. It is the fifty stars that represent the fifty states that are held together by those founding documents that people are so passionate about. It is what the flag and that song mean to people that they are so passionate about.

Couldn't find where I said people shouldn't do it, huh?

The same MAGA clods that get bent when player kneel during the national anthem pretend that a bunch of slovenly
rednecks attacking the U.S. Capitol was no big deal. Ha, ha, ha: the stink of hypocrisy!

Speedo, you forgot rube. Please use rube. We need more rube. The more you use rube the more we like it.

That is quite the take. He would have been the best player in the league in those years as well. He's a few weeks short of 39 and still a top 10 player in the NBA and maybe top 5. Pretty durable if you ask me.

Yeah but he's not a conservative voter so he's an overrated p*ssy who couldn't hack it in the 90's. Lol.

I don't hate anyone. I think it is extraordinarily disrespectful to not stop what you are doing during the national anthem. Knowing what the 1% of men and women that actually serve in the armed forces give up to allow the rest of the nation to have the freedoms they have gives me a bit of a unique perspective maybe. Folks are perfectly within their rights to not stop and show respect, but I am also perfectly within my rights to call them out. Feel free to ignore me. That is perfectly within your rights.
Where does it say in the founding documents or who amongst the Founders said anything about a national anthem?

Also, those "freedoms" are not given to us by a soldier, a politician or a judge. But they surely can be removed by those people.

Rastuttin I prefer my freedoms removed by elected and unelected folks in DC thank you very much.

Those people care more about a flag and a song than they do the Constitution. They know all the words to a song but couldn't tell you what the 16th Amendment or Article I is. They should not be taken seriously.

The founding documents don't say anything about lots of stuff we or our government does. Singing a national anthem and having a flag are probably the least impactful but illicit the most venomous responses. Usually tells me I am over the target when the culture is fighting back hard against people doing something.

No one in here has said people shouldn't do it. This entire thread stems from people who are angered at those who don't.

America has committed atrocities against the American Indians, Latin and South America, the Middle East, the Hawaiin Isles, and its own people on countless occasions. To say that we've been an objectively good force in the world is a pretty myopic and self-agrandizing perspective.
To pretend that America is the only nation that has committed atrocities is a much more myopic self aggrandizing perspective in my humble opinion.

Spain slaughtered the Mayans, African chiefs sold their own people into slavery, Barbary Pirates enslaved Americans, the Chinese gov is currently slaughtering Muslims, Arabic nations slaughter Jews, Christians, LGBTQ people, the Germans slaughtered Jews...... I can go on and on.

Have you seen the footage of the "attack", looked really scary and dangerous to me too.

You are not getting any flak. I just don't care enough about a flag or an anthem. That should be a basic human right... or at least in the US. It's people like you that are all red in the face and angry over something that occurs 5 minutes before a sporting event.

No one ever said that America was the only one committing atrocities. The people that get butt hurt are they ones that get mad when someone even mentions that America has done them at all. They say you hate America or some other nonsense.
