The Thread Where People Argue About Kneeling in the NFL (merged)

Do you agree with the change?

Any group (I don't even know what that is... that terms seems be used to describe white people) that believes they can use violence and use mob force mentality to push their delusional extreme views on people have no place in this world in my book. And no, I will not care about them when they go to jail or get hurt or worse. And if they need a safe space on the taxpayers dime, tear it down.

a person who shows or feels discrimination or prejudice against people of other races, or who believes that a particular race is superior to another.

I think it's a stretch to impugn a persons character for simply observing that someone is black.

If you're judging his character based on that tweet, could it not just as easily be concluded that he's bigoted against multi-millionaires?

You think that tweet was just observing? Why didn't he tweet about ungrateful millionaires? That tweet certainly implies that black people that have made it should just STFU and not complain.

We have been sitting through years of a damn billionaire whining about how crappy America is and how he is the only one who can fix it... And we elected him president, but when a successful black man complains he should shut and be grateful he is fortunate enough to live in this country. Come the F#ck on.

Yeah that is exactly what has happened to white people. I mean you even have the white privilege statement out there. Where were you when this was going on?

People don't seem to want to buy all this stuff you are selling.

Good post. Now back to the protest. Do you think that police disproportionally target minorities? Do you think that the police should be held accountable for mistakes? They are rarely held accountable for being bad cops and using excessive force and that is what the protest has been about. You are either for their plight or against. Trying to make it un-American is a pathetic attempt to distort and demonized the issue.

This is how the left deflects from having serious conversations about race. It can only be done on their terms lest you be attacked as being a bigot. Nothing constructive will ever come out of it

He's not injecting race into this. The protests are specifically about race. About how black people are supposedly oppressed. His counterpoint is to highlight an example which shows this not to be true. A famous, rich, unoppressed, black person. MUH Racist

Stevie never said he was oppressed. Joe said that he was an ungrateful black millionaire. What does that mean? Why should he be grateful? And to f#cking whom?

I am not answering all of your questions like this is a game show.

I don't care for the cops, however I think they are in a tough position -- I wouldn't want to be one. Is there discrimination, sure, is there bad cops, sure, have I experienced it first hand, YUP!!!! So?

There is no protest, there may be an issue... but people don't seem to really pay for it. What these guys did was instead of doing stuff on their own, where they would have no audience -- they used their employer to obtain the audience. The have no protest, there is no message, and its political grand standing during an event people paid for. If you can't understand this I don't know what to tell you, its really simple.

I think there are misconceptions on both sides of this issue.

Some Conservatives think it is a protest by the players against the anthem and our military because of injustice.

Liberals think those offended are racist. Black folks should just be happy with what they have.

Neither perception is true. These are the narratives media wants to portray to get clicks. Sometimes I think the media is trying hard to keep racial tensions alive!

Do you know what racist means?

Nothing is ever racist around here unless a liberal says it.

Technically, the phrase in question was racially insensitive, but not exactly "racist". However, if it had been said about a white by a D, a handful of you would be calling it racist.

Or its just political grand standing and people ain't buying it and would rather see all these political tools unemployed with their slave owners.

Its clearly about Trump at this point, go speak with Lebron James and have him tell you how Unedumicated White Folks Be for voting for Trump.

I asked another guy this question and he didn't answer.

What do we need to do to fix this? What are the first few steps?

Politics ruins everything it touches.

To make this even more stupid we need more groups forming kneeling protests for their own reasons completely separate from Kapernick's.

Kneeling protesting abortions.
Kneeling protesting paternal rights.
Kneeling protesting "insert your reasons here".

Let's get everybody kneeling. I want reporters to have to ask an athlete, "why were you kneeling today during the National Anthem?"

I kneeled once and it got me a two kids, a life of "yes mams" and took away all my decision making authority. NEVER AGAIN!

Yeah, I think its okay, but nobody wants to pay for politics.... how do you kill a party, bring up politics or religion -- everyone knows this, well apparently not. :)Now, what I don't understand is why the owners got on national TV and coddled the players. Its like watching a slave owner coddle the slaves by patting them on the head out in the cotton field. That to me is why I feel bad for the players now, they entered the realm of politics have been made irrelevant.

I’m wondering what the end game is here. Will fans sit in their seats during the anthem to protest players? Will stadiums have to play the national anthem an hour before game time so fans or players don’t make a spectical?

Will the anthem become a political “football”?

Start with education and training of our police. The justice system is also at fault for letting some of these cops off.

It's the media's job to keep us divided...the same as it is for politicians in Washington...

The whole left vs right, republican vs democrat agenda is to divide the people...keep them at odds...divide and conquer..

That's what "democracies" were designed to do...
