The Thread Where People Argue About Kneeling in the NFL (merged)

Yeah, I think its okay, but nobody wants to pay for politics.... how do you kill a party, bring up politics or religion -- everyone knows this, well apparently not. :)Now, what I don't understand is why the owners got on national TV and coddled the players. Its like watching a slave owner coddle the slaves by patting them on the head out in the cotton field. That to me is why I feel bad for the players now, they entered the realm of politics have been made irrelevant.

They are just slaves here for your entertainment and you could care less about them as people. They should just stand for the anthem like they are told. OK

Start with education and training of our police. The justice system is also at fault for letting some of these cops off.

Come on, I'll admit that there are problems but we need to discuss ways to fix these problems or these protests are meaningless.

It's the media's job to keep us divided...the same as it is for politicians in Washington...

The whole left vs right, republican vs democrat agenda is to divide the people...keep them at odds...divide and conquer..

That's what "democracies" were designed to do...

You were spot on until the last line.

I don't watch it and I don't pay for it. Matter of fact, I have said, I had no problem with people not standing for the anthem. You are a tool. Another word for what you just did is lie as I never implied any of those things. I haven't watch these professional sports for years, I turned off cable over a year and half ago you stupid tool.

Yes, that is what I want to do... go watch some man children in their little tights run around with other grown men in a field of grass.

(I'll put you on my ignore list for being a raging stupid lying tool)

The last time I even went to a pro sports game was in the 80s, and I use to go to Saints and Jazz games as a kid. The last college football game I went to was LSU v UT in 2011, probably my last one because of all the hypocrisy. As far as watching it, I think I have caught a few minutes of pro sport over the last year or two... seems like I watch a quarter of the Superbowl... that is about it. I have watched a few college games including LSU and UT but pretty limited.

Certainly not going to be paying for freaking Lebron to go play in his little uniform telling me how Unemunicated White Folks Be for voting for Trump, like he is important.:eek:lol:

Seriously two years of classroom study in law, sociology, and other areas that will help them deal with the public before any academy training. They need to quit scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Did slaves have a collective bargaining agreement? Did they have free agency? Could a slave hold out to decide if they wanted to go to a plantation in Georgia instead of Mississippi? Did they voluntarily sign on a line agreeing to the terms of their owners and unions? Were they recruited by their owners with extravagant meals, private travel and excellent lodging? I'm sure it was exactly the same.

It's just a nicer plantation.

Many of your larger police forces already require at least an associates degree.

So is that all and the problem would be fixed?

Oh ok. I guess they don't have to walk to work they get there in Masserati's, Lambo's and Range Rovers.

I believe it goes both ways. The cops should treat each individual the same and with respect but the members of the community should return the gesture.

Right now the level of distrust between certain communities and the police are at an all time high. The police are going to have to earn back the respect of the people. The cops must respect the peoples' rights as it is part and parcel of the job.

First and foremost, end the war on drugs. This is the no-brainer solution that would be easy to execute properly and would result in a huge amount of progress in improving relations between the CJ system and minorities.

Other important changes that are easier said than done: we need to fix the incentives for investigating officers, prosecuting attorneys, judges and DA's. The plea bargain system is broken. It would be nice to update training and rules of engagement for police officers.

Not sure that a 2 year degree or a 4 year degree would change much.

Not the patrol cops. Look at the requirements for State, and local. I don't think "many" is accurate.

Sometimes you just have to start. Clearwater added another step as did huff.

I agree but the IMO the problem starts with the elected officials and trickles down to the bosses then the street.

Now that my future SIL is a cop and I listen to his stories I believe it even more. He's fresh out of the academy and already frustrated with his bosses as much as he is with the community.

I wasn't assigning blame in any one particular area. It is going to take someone in power to acknowledge that the system while not broken sure needs some tweaking.

I'm with you on legalizing drugs, I just think we'd go about it differently.

To me the easiest way to fix the judicial system is to do two things.

1. stop electing district attorneys
2. when a DA decides to take a case to court they must file a budget and whatever the DA plans to spend the defense should get the same. Justice shouldn't depend on your bank account.

Are you saying that their is a correlation between drugs and minorities? If you're not, than why would ending the war on drugs improve relations? Just curious

It's going to take an association like the BAR to do anything with the post arrest justice system.

What drugs are we legalizing? Marijuana or all drugs?
