The Thread Where People Argue About Kneeling in the NFL (merged)

I'm not sure what planet you watch sports on, but here on Earth, it was a pretty big deal - even last year.

To quote Colin Kaepernick, "I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color"

Seeing as the current players are following Kaepernick's exact movement, it seems a little disingenuous to me for them to start saying it isn't about the flag or it isn't about the country when the original intent of this symbolism was certainly to display a lack of pride in those as symbols "of oppression".

Forgive me if I associate the current gesture with its original intent. Not a fan of the guy who wore the pig/cop socks....and yes, all of that was last year. All of that was in the news.

Are you chip kelly?

Have you seen twitter.... the left is ticked bc they are standing interlocked instead of kneeling

The left probably has a lot more outrage coming ... from the Supreme Court. Apparently the SC is likely ready to rule that public unions can't collect dues or “fair share” fees from people who don't want to be union members ... because union political activity contrary to their wishes violates their right of free speech.

Leftys failed to anticipate just which way slippery slopes might run when they started the "free speech" expansion issue. It's probably a matter of time before "forced to hear" is considered an infringement of personal rights. The government might be forced to listen, but why does that expand to everyone else?

That's why he's an idiot. You can't talk about oppression and wear a Castro tshirt at the same time. He's FOS.

Idiot would be fine, this kind of dumb is on a whole other level. This was always about the flag, anthem, and America -- the BS about it not isn't being bought by America. And let's be really honest about this, its really about they hate white people. They know it, we know it, and the world knows it - America can see right through it. You have Lebron basically telling half his audience they are dumb white people, and America is now starting to notice.

Although I don't generally watch pro sports, if one of these guys had principles and did not want to participate in whatever, I get that.... even if I don't get the why. However, what these guys are doing is just looking for pandering and coddling -- America sees right through it.

They stick to their principles, more power to them, they do what The Man tells them - zero respect for these guys just like Chris Jackson.

So you don't think a group of millionaires couldn't do something more productive to help out on all of these so-called social injustices?

This is nothing more than the same as all the other clowns marching in the street and burning their own neighborhoods down. If they really had a legit basis for their protest, there are a thousand other ways to make a difference. Yea they have the right to do it, same I have the right to not agree with it.

I mean seriously, Ray Lewis protesting all the social injustices that have happened to him and his family? Give me a break...

outstanding job of cherry picking one person involved to make your point seem appropriate.....

you have your opinion and i have mine, arguing with you on here about does nothing, i simply support all folks right to peacefully protest in any manner, venue they want......i dont get butt hurt or offended over these things...

Without getting jailed for it? Yes. To do so without any judgement? No.

This gets lost with the ignorant.

Hardly ignorant of fact on the subject bud. If he wants to call them stupud fpr doing it, like i do, thats personal judgment. He said they shouldnt be doing it. Their right to do it is what we fight for.

I don't really get an emotion over the kneeling. But I do believe it is short sighted and pointless. The tactic didn't work. Let's move on before they lose future NFL players more money.

I kind of feel the same way, up to the point that I see they have an anti-trust exemption and get welfare checks from various governments, including where I live. Of course, I gave up on pro sports a while back before this, I really don't see a lot of these people coming back. Lots of these people were already not satisfied, this just made it easier to throw the middle finger up as they unplug. This is not a short term trend even if the NFL were able to get out of the box.

It’s his right to say they shouldn’t kneel, sport.

Who thinks that the NFL office has quietly made it known that the players better get out of the locker room and stand? I saw this morning that both the Bears and Packers stood last night with interlocked arms.

That probably isn't going to fly with the American public, they don't want to see any of this crap at this point. It was pretty apparently the NFL lost control last weekend, just look at Beckham and the dude from the Bills. What next, Beckham walks in after the game into a press conference with a T-Shire that says, "Goodell is the Chief Slave Master".
