The tide is about to turn in UT recruiting

No offense, but nothing about this season necessarily gives me the warm and fuzzies. Yeah we went to a bowl, but we still got our asses kicked to an ACC team in Atlanta. I think we're headed in the right direction, but I certainly could have imagined much better results at this point.

That's because you overestimated the talent level of this team.

Top 5. UT, UF, USC, Tx, Bama will be the Top 5. Before anyone comments my list is in no particular order.
Agreed although I can still see FSU pushing to make the top five also. Auburn's class is built on quantity right now rather than quality.

We curbstomped UGA and USCjr. finished second in the East. Had the closest games with Bama and UF in a few years. Were 1 FG away from beating the eventual national champs on their home field. completely turned Crompdaddy around. had 2 walk-ons and a freshman TE on the OL but still allowed the least sacks in the SEC...

you guys need to tone down your expectations. dang...

.Really? Taking a 5-7 team and playing Florida and Alabama closer then they wanted isn't an accomplishment? Oh and btw, That ACC team was #11 in the country.

we don't need the #1 class but we need to keep the gap as small as possible. After that it all comes down to coaching

A loss is a loss. We lost to our two biggest rivals, again, we lost to a mediocre Pac-10 team at home, we got embarrassed in our mid-level bowl game, again, and we had players in trouble with the law, again. Hey, I can highlight the bads just as easily as you can highlight the goods. Point is, it wasn't that much different from previous years. We are Tennessee. We aren't supposed to be a 7-6 team that is not ranked the entire year and can't even compete with an ACC team. I'm sorry, but that's just how I see it.

Obviously we are rebuilding and yada yada, but don't try to tell me that we had a good year. We didn't.

FSU could make a run, but they have a lot of 3 star talent to make up for. But yes they are right there and if they keep stealing UFs 5* recruits I may have the wrong Florida school listed.:)

Nope, not really. It's a slightly pleasing moral victory for a team that doesn't really accomplish much else, but no, it isn't an accomplishment, and saying that it is is an example of lowered expectations, which is sad. That is an accomplishment for the Kentucky's and the Vanderbilts of the world. Not us.

If you honestly expected us to even compete with Florida and Alabama this year then you need to seriously think about admitting your self into an asylum.

You people need to get off the fact that VT plays in the ACC. It doesn't change the fact that they are a top 10 team. A top 10 team is supposed to dominate a 7-5 team.

I don't, but I don't count losses as accomplishments. You do. You might want to look in the mirror, or start pulling for the Wildcats in football. You might fit in better there.

We had a good year with the talent we had compared to the talent we played. I don't see the bad you "highlighted." You say a loss is a loss. That's a negative way to look at it I guess. We lost to a UCLA when Crompsuck hadn't become Crompdaddy yet. With the talent we had, good year for the Vols...

We have to get back to Tennessee and this was a big step in the right direction. I hate to hear what you expect us to do next year with even less talent/experience lol...

That was a great accomplishment, but like i said before we are losing a lot of seniors at key positions so dont be surprised to have another 7-6 season again next year.

It also doesn't change the fact that they essentially finished 3rd in the ACC. The top 25 means nothing, and we all know that. They had 3 losses, we had 5. It's not like they were 10-1. Give me a break. We shouldn't lose to that team by over 3 touchdowns.

better than being too naive to not lower your expectations when you don't have the talent to beat those upper echelon teams...

Two of their losses are to teams playing in BCS bowls.

If you didn't expect us to compete with Florida and Alabama, then why are you so upset that we did?
