The Tiger Woods saga

No, you're definitely an idiot.

But go ahead thinking the 6-10 you named some how trumps the hundreds who aren't, despite clear, factual evidence. We will just continue to laugh at you.
Do you have to resort to name calling because you know nothing about golf?

I said that age is not the reason that he shoots 76's and 77's. Do you honestly think it is?

Again, since you can't read. He's 41, with multiple back and knee surgeries and a previous torn Achilles. Combine all those and here we are

Also, an idiot is someone without knowledge. You fit the definition, sorry, not sorry.

It's absolutely part of the reason, without a doubt.
Maybe a half to a stroke a round, tops. Maybe enough to not win majors or not win very often, but not enough to shoot 76 and 77 in 3 of his last 4 rounds. Age isn't the reason for that. Part injuries, part lost confidence, part swing confusion.

You are too blinded by Tiger love.

Lol... I love how people try to write him off when he's probably got 8-10 years of contending left. He just walked onto the course after a layoff and was a putt or two away from top 10ing at the Masters. It was very clear that it wasn't the same Tiger from before the break.

No, he'll never be the Tiger of 10 years ago again. But after seeing the changes he's made and the short game looking ok again, he's definitely not done.
Certainly optimistic about the future.

Certainly optimistic about the future.

I probably was over optimistic, but you just went back and quoted me from 2 years and 1 back surgery ago. We weren't that far removed from his first comeback when he got back to #1 in the world. I'd guess that most rational opinions on Tiger's future have grown more bleak in the past two years after seeing him have another major surgery and have a hard time making it back.

You're reaching.

That's because you want to attribute it mostly to him being unable to cope with the competition which is ridiculous.
I never said nor thought that he was unable to cope with the competition, but I do think it is tougher today than it was 10 or 15 years ago.........and it's tougher because of youngsters taking up the game and training because of Tiger Woods.

The reason I quoted you from 2 years ago was to prove that you didn't think that 39 was too old for a pro to have another 8 or 10 years of good golf left in him. I agree with your statement back then.

Has he recovered yet from being mentally broken? I got called names for saying that.

you went back a year and a half ago which is multiple surgeries ago. You got called an idiot because you refuse to concede that injuries and age are a factor. It's not a name. It's by definition what you are.

Apparently, you thought he was "mentally broken" a year and a half ago. Has he recovered from that in your opinion, or is he still "mentally broken?" You can't have it both ways.

Some of you apparently do not understand my feelings towards Tiger. Here they are, in a nutshell:

1) He is by far the best golfer of the last 40 years.

2) He was not afraid of his competition.

3) He would excel in any era.

4) You can't compare eras, due to balls, clubs, training, and agronomy. So was he better than Nicklaus, Hogan, Snead, Jones, Hagen, Nelson, Sarazen, etc.? Don't know. He beat everybody that he competed against, but so did they, most of the time.

5) He is not too old to compete. If he starts winning again, will you still say he is too old?

6) His troubles off the course only derailed him for a short time. They are not responsible for his poor play today.

7) He could compete against they guys out there today, if he was in his prime.

8) If Woods and Nicklaus were in the same era, they would have some great battles, just like Nicklaus had with Trevino and Watson. Just like Hogan and Snead......2 greats in the same era.

9) From all that I read about his latest return, his health and golf game at home were in good shape when he entered the Hero World Challenge, The Farmer's and Dubai.

10) I continue to believe that the reasons for his poor play are lack of confidence, swing confusion, and to a lesser extent, injuries. I don't think age is involved to much of an extent.

11) I think it is very possible that he was taking performance enhancing drugs, and has lost that edge without them.

12) I firmly think that if he had kept his thin body type, not lifted weights, and kept his swing that he had coming out of college, and not tried to change instructors to make the perfect golf swing, that he would have won over 20 majors by now. Good grief, he won the Masters by 12 shots with that. At least, I think it was 12.

13) I still don't like him, or feel sorry for him.

There's no way the injuries are to a lesser extent. Dude's back is in terrible shape, and if you believe the chatter all he can do right now is basically lay down.

I can buy the mental aspect, but I think now it's a chicken or egg type thing. In the past I do believe his scandals made him a headcase, but now I would think if he's lacking confidence, it's because of his injuries. I'm no big time athlete, but at one point I was pretty good at basketball and one pick up game I sprained my ankle badly. Then 6 months later I did the same thing to the same ankle. It made me very leary when playing after that a good while because in the back of my mind I kept worrying I was going to hurt it again.

and to a lesser extent, injuries.

and this is why you're a by definition idiot. A right handed golfer with at least 3, probably more, back surgeries, 3 left knee operations and a torn left Achilles injury is only to a lesser extent bothered by this plus the fact that he's 41 years old. Science and facts be da**ed to you.
