The Tiger Woods saga

What exactly are you calling a downfall? Back injuries, surgeries, or a drunk driving charge? Plenty of athletes have been injured. Plenty of athletes have been caught with drugs or driving drunk. What is the downfall?

The downfall = being the most dominant player ever in his sport on his way to destroying the majors win total to never winning a major again after his wife clubbed him in the head.

He was arguably the most dominant athlete of all time who went to a doormat overnight.

How is that hard to understand?

I thought he went to the doormat after injuries and surgeries.

He didn't really go away that suddenly though. He returned and as late as 2013 or 2014 was back to being the #1 player in the world. Then the injuries got him.

I think there's a few things that played a part in his downfall

1. The death of his dad
2. The public humiliation from the scene around thanksgiving in 2008
3. The stop of steroid/hgh use after he went into the spotlight of the TMZ types after the 2008 incident.

Was involved with some porn stars too wasnt he ? Guy got around after the divorce.

How many majors has he won since his wife hit him in the head?
The same number that he won after Y.E. Yang beat him head to head in the PGA. There are other tournaments besides the Majors. Tiger won 8 of 35 tournaments he played in 2012 and 2013. He was 2nd in scoring both of those years.

He won a couple of World Golf Ch. events, The Memorial, Arnie's Tournament (maybe both years), and a Players Championship. His wife didn't hurt him enough to keep him from winning 31% of the events he played in 2013. You need to look elsewhere for a reason.

Answer the question.

1) Tiger won 4 majors and a total of 33 tournaments after Earl died in 2006.

2) He won 8 times in 2012 and 2013.

3) May have something there.

1. Ok but I still think his dad dying had an impact and possibly made it harder on him after he faced adversity.

2. Zero majors.

As if not winning majors indicates weakness. I really wonder if people get how hard it is to win majors. Tiger stopped winning majors in his early 30s. Phil didn't even start winning them until he was in his 30s and only has 5.

We are talking about Tiger Woods. We aren't talking Notah Begay.

Tiger went from sinking thirty footers in a major on the back nine on Sunday like it was nothing to dropping out to avoid getting cut.

There's never been a fall like his.

Tiger's downfall is bigger, and it isn't even close.

Let's face it, nobody gives a s*** about cycling. Tiger exponentially grew the game of golf, but people actually played and watched the sport before he came along. Lance Armstrong is a totally irrelevant figure in his sport and in society at large today. Tiger, even after all these years, is still in golf conversations about if/when he'll come back.

Also, in cycling, they were and are all juicing. There are a ton of guys who have had their wins stricken from the record. Armstrong is just the most famous guy to have it happen to.

"Nobody gives a **** about cycling" might be one the most uninformed takes in the history of this board. Truly next level stupidity.

You act like he woke up one morning and suddenly couldn't play. He was competitive until his body broke down

I think his body broke down because he quit juicing due to the TMZ type coverage along with his personal doctor getting in legal trouble for sketchy HGH stuff.
