I agree. I believe the better metric for discussing our pupil spending would be direct contact dollars - books, computers, teachers, aids, etc - that leave out the administrative bloat that exists just to have more administrators. I believe we'd see a drastically different educational map under those circumstances.
Of course I see her point. It's blatantly obvious.
You are rarely going to get the vote of someone you piss off.
It's a trade off.
Sometimes not saying the things that need to be said piss off the other group that are already on your side.
It's like when trump had such a hard time denouncing white nationalists. He didn't want to lose their vote, but when he realized he would lose even more votes by not speaking up, he spoke up.....being the man of character that he was.
Easy there, Cowboy. Luther says there's a difference between facts and thinking. You're either lying or ignorant; I can only cure the latter:
Trump denounces White supremacy '38 times' in new campaign video, amid Biden-Harris criticisms

There was a global study I read years ago that was (paraphrasing) essentially based on what makes for the best learning environment, and $ spent/student was one of the many metrics looked at for comparative pursposes.I agree. Oh, I did.
I believe it needs to be said loudly, clearly, and repeatedly that CRT is being used by the right as a racial dog whistle.
I am trying to teach my 9th grader this concept. I ask him about questions he misses on tests to discuss and hopefully he develops an even better understanding. There was a global study I read years ago that was (paraphrasing) essentially based on what makes for the best learning environment, and $ spent/student was one of the many metrics looked at for comparative pursposes.
I can't recall the exact phrase, but there was a saying across the top of the blackboards (yes... blackboards) that teachers had in some Japanese schools (again... paraphrasing) that said something like "teach by making students think". The point being, when a student came to the teacher and asked for help on a specific problem the teacher DID NOT show them how to solve the problem. Instead, they asked the student to first make a valid attempt to solve the problem and explain how they reached that conclusion. Even if their answer was wrong, the students at minimum were applying cognitive thinking and developed a habit of trying to solve things themselves before asking for help.
I believe many teachers (unfortunately and perhaps habitually) are too quick to "teach" or "instruct" students, instead of making them think first.

I know he denounced them......after he didn't.
Trump Now Says He Condemns 'All White Supremacists,' After Declining To At Debate
Easy there, Cowboy. Luther says there's a difference between facts and thinking.
Of course it means when facts are against you, thinking is as good or better, and when thinking is against you, facts are more valid.
I don't know what to do if Luther has neither facts nor thinking.
The man had literally BEFORE the debate, INCLUDING the Charlottesville incident, denounced racist groups. That was the video content; how do you not get that except to ignore the video in order to sustain your unfounded belief? Why didn't your NPR link acknowledge the multiple times, over years, that he did? Further, he had already, in a prior interview with Chris Wallace, do which makes Wallace's debate ambush not just inexplicable but agenda.
At what point do YOU take "NO" for a "NO"? Apparently sometime after three dozens "NOs".
You guys are arguing with a grown man who supported Bernie Sanders.
Recognize a lost cause when you see one.

He said he supported abortion.
He was for universal health care.
He supported the democratic platform.
Obviously what he said at one point has no bearing on his current positions.
When put on the spot at critical times, he was reluctant.
Paint it how you will, but it's like saying he is for universal health care today because he is on record multiple times saying that he is.
Does this mean I have to block @McDad ?

As I've said before, you have an awful lot of nerve wanting your kids' teachers to get off their butts and do actual work rather than simply giving the exact same tests to their students for the rest of their careers. My fantasy world. If I only I could see the actual tests my children take. But, they are evidently the equivalent of wanting to see the nuclear codes.
