The goal with Negan is to boost viewership by giving the audience someone to loathe so when the eventual retribution against negan takes place then there is real investment in the process...

I'm just tired of Jeffery Dean Morgan already.

So I take it there is no such thing as valid criticism of this show then? You just automatically label it as "b****ing"?

Because he's hardly alone in his criticism of how Negan is being portrayed. Even some here that like the show have stated he comes across as annoying.

I thought he was great in this latest episode. Had some funny lines and dialogue.

That's fine.

My point was it's incredibly dishonest to just label someone as "b****ing about everything" just because they don't agree with him. That's kind of the point of having a discussion thread about the show.

Forgive me, as I haven't read the comics (plan on doing so soon, though), but what about JDM's portrayal isn't sitting well with folks?

Because he comes across as annoying, not terrifying. He's not striking "pee pee pants" when he talks on and on, he strikes as "please shut the bleep up".

I don't think it's JDM's fault, it's that I think this is a case of the source material not translating to the screen very well. To me the TV version is coming across as more cartoonish than the actual comic character.

Personally I think JDM is doing a fantastic job as potraying Negan. The only issue I have with the TV version of Negan is he isn't bulky enough and should have more weight on him. Other than that, I can't complain IMO.
