The Walking Dead

Well that was pointless to bring back Morales from Season 1 only to be killed by an arrow.

Such lazy writing.

Thought it was a pretty solid episode overall. I could give 2 shix about killing off Morales. His role was to make Rick hesitant about being so merciless while at the same time show Daryl not caring.

3 episodes in and we are still on Day 1 of the War. Looks like next week is still Day 1. I’m actually diggging the pace though.

I look forward to Rick dropping off his photo album.

I like the pace of this season, and I liked they didn’t have the artsy stuff from last week.

I hope half of Rick’s group dies though.

I wonder if the baby becomes a subplot of any kind or just a throw away moment. Like the mom is still alive and wants the baby back.

Why is it lazy? You think a whole story should have developed out of it?

I think there is..sorta.
Morales wasn't the focus, Daryl killing him so quickly was.
Add in the scared kid he shot at the end and Rick's reaction to both.

Rick and Daryl are going to end up in confrontation. They needed Daryl to kill someone familiar for effect and Morales had to die immediately. Any drawn-out story line with Morales would have shown hesitation from Daryl and that's the exact opposite of what they are going for.

Rick mentions all those people from the past, but leaves out T-Dawg?

and Daryl killed a surrendering, unarmed Minkus?

**** this show.

And left out Dale, who Morales seemed to be friends with in those early episodes.

Seemed like he was just trying to hit the heart strings by relating with losing his wife, best friend, and mentioning Glenn who Negan killed. Although he did say Andrea and nobody cared about her LOL.

I honestly don’t remember much about Morales other than he parted ways at the end of S1. I thought it was a good call back for Rick to a time before all the really bad ish went down. Ultimately I don’t think Morales sticking around would have served the story any better than Daryl taking him out.

Speaking of.... Daryl has kinda gone off the deep end. Killing the kid at the end was cold blooded but Rick’s hesitating and compassion has always backfired so maybe it’s necessary.

I thought it might have been a thinly veiled shot at Jeffery DeMunn, who played Dale. DeMunn is close with Frank Darabont who was executive producer of the first 2 seasons and had that public dust up when he was fired. DeMunn essentially said he was out which is why Dale was killed off so suddenly.

But even that is a stretch; probably just named off a few characters Morales might remember.

I agree. I think he just spit out a few names with emphasis on Glenn for obvious reasons. I don’t think there was a need to go through the entire S1 line up of characters to get the point across.

Well.....bye.

A funny outtake would be if Rick kept going saying “...and Hersheal, and Tyreese...and Sasha...”

Morales: “Wait....who?”

Rick: “Oh yeah that was after Season 1...”

Now maybe Heath shows up? Not that anybody even mentioned or looked for him.

It was a terrible choice to bring him back to just kill him right away. It would of been better to just leave his fate unknown.

I was fine with his story ending when they split up in Atlanta. At the same time I had no problem with him showing up as a Savior and being killed off. As I said before, his role in the story was to remind Rick of who he was before and also how ruthless Daryl is acting.

It wasn’t “lazy writing”. There was a point to it.

I think it's time for me to tap out on this show. I tried to make it to the end. Many of you whose opinions I respect are enjoying this season and I can't take it at all. I'm too poisoned to enjoy it even when it's good.

I keep threatening to quit it several times, even though I have watched since the beginning. They are running out of fresh ideas, It should have ended by now.

I'm approaching the poisoned level. The more I see of Negan the less I like the show. Every time he appears he gives another boring monologue and I end up thinking "this guy should've died 4 or 5 times now."

The Morales stuff doesn't bother me. I'm guessing they're setting up some moral decision for Rick/The group in an upcoming episode or something along those lines. It is a little odd showing Rick's surprise at Daryl's actions considering Rick has been the "it's us and take no chances/kill them if they're a threat" character in season's past.

But I'm waiting to see where it goes before I laugh at a dumb story arc.
