Not surprising!

THE WALKING DEAD HAS BEEN RENEWED FOR A 9TH SEASON!

Showrunner Scott M. Gimple has been named chief content officer of the “TWD” universe. Writer and co-executive producer Angela Kang has been promoted as Gimple’s replacment.

“This is an enormously important day for the entire ‘The Walking Dead’ television universe. We are proud to acknowledge Angela’s significant contribution to the series and to set a clear path forward for a ninth season under her direction. Further, with gratitude and admiration, we also recognize Scott’s broad impact on, and leadership of, the content that fuels our ‘TWD’ universe. Together, we will dream bigger and more broadly than ever before,” said Charlie Collier, president of AMC, SundanceTV and AMC Studios. “I know I speak for Angela, Scott and everyone at AMC when I say thanks most of all to the fans and the many talented people who have helped AMC play ‘Dead.'

That's just what we all wanted to see more of is Rick giving up on being a leader again and watching him struggle through the loss of Carl. He can go back to gardening again, maybe this time with Judith. /bluefont

The last thing I actually watched was the attack on the sanctuary or whatever that factory was called. didn't even see the result. we relied on dvr to watch it, moved and never set the new dvr.

Everyone died and became walkers. Now the show is 30 min of the group walking around looking for food as walkers. The other 30 min is still commercials.

Just to gripe about people living, and wanting to see everybody die. Stuff like Carl dying is why I quit watching this garbage years ago. Characters are like bugs circling a fly zapper. Sooner or later they are going to die for no purpose, which makes their whole existence and stuggle to survive leading up to that death worthless.

Killing him was stupid. There are only three original characters left. They are the reason people fell in love with the show to start with...They just jumped the shark. My three kids starting watching with me back in the beginning, I quit a long time ago, but they hung in there till now. They all just said screw it.

Yep. Daryl, Rick, Morgan are the only original season 1 members left. I don't know where they are thinking of going by killing Carl. They claim to have promoted Gimple to a different position but I'm thinking it was a polite way of getting him out of show running.

Carol is an original member.

It’s funny hearing someone complain about characters getting killed off when several a couple of seasons ago people were complaining the cast had become too safe.

I admit the show has lost steam for me but I don’t really think the quality has fallen that much. I still contend a huge chunk of season 2 and 3 were some of the lowest points for story telling. Longevity and boredom with the concept are it’s biggest problem for me.

I sort of agree and sort of don't. My initial reaction is the show has gotten worse in several areas, but then I think maybe it really was never that great in those areas in the first place and I'm just no longer overlooking them.

To me, the writing has gotten worse and it's because they've tried to stick to the main storylines of the comic but still change it up so that it's not just a straight copy. And I agree with the approach, because just a simple acting out word for word of the comic wouldn't work. But I think my problem is overall their changes have been worse IMO.

But whatever, I'll still watch because it's still better than most TV shows.

Burning Orange already said this but it's worth saying again.
For an entire year or more, the show was "lazy", "crap", whatever because certain characters were considered untouchable. Now it's crap because they kill 1 of those characters.

It's just a show to me, better than its competition in that time slot. If they cancelled it tomorrow, I would find something different without much thought.
It's people's reactions to the show that absolutely fascinates me.

1. I've never seen a show drive so many people to enter its thread just to declare that they don't watch the show.

2. If you read the thread, you will see several occasions where people declare they can't wait for the show to end. Like having 199 other channels to watch what they do like, isn't good enough. For some mystical reason, a crap cable station, airing this at 9 on Sundays, drives them mad.

3. The number of people claiming they don't watch, complaining about what transpired on every episode.

The reactions have peaked my curiosity more than the show itself lol.

I don’t mind Carl getting killed off. I can’t stand the actor who plays him. He’s terrible. He wasn’t so bad until the last couple years.

I'm doing good, no severe issues.

Just been lurking. Waiting on results before I declare our coach great or a disappointment. Kinda knocks me outta the FB threads lately.

I'll stop hijacking the thread and say this.
It's a zombie show. Got some good/bad human story lines but still just a zombie show. Surprised it garners so much strong reaction.
