The Walking Dead

Lol, what a terrible episode.

One, ok we kill a bunch of extras that we're supposed to care about. Tobin I guess it supposed to be emotional but dude has hardly been used in forever.

Two, that kid is one of the dumbest kids in TV history. You have a freakin gun and they are in a fence that you can easily shoot through. There was no reason to open it other than...plot convenience. Also I thought Morgan told him which one killed his brother in a previous episode.

Three, so now just like that Tara and Daryl...switch their views on Dwight?

Four, Morgan. They have so ruined this character; enough of his mental anguish that's been drug out for about 3 seasons now.

And finally, apparently the writers can only write either shootouts or long, trying-way-too-hard dramatic emotional exhanges rife with supposedly inspirational monologues. I still say these writers don't seem to understand how people talk in real life.

I really enjoyed the first two seasons. I was excited to watch every week. It's sad.

You're right. A few episodes ago, the Hilltop group was decimated by Saviors shooting from warehouse windows.
Simon and his group foolishly approach the Hilltop in a tight group. Maggie's group open fire and do very little damage.
Why no sentries posted at every point after such a fierce battle? Why have they not learned that the wounded could die and turn? Did the entire group take a dozen Sominex as not one single person heard walkers shuffling or falling?

I often wonder what the writers are thinking when they write these story lines.

You are thinking of the Kingdom group that got taken out by the Gatlin guns. I see your point but they killed quite a few saviors. I’m wondering how they have more than a handful left at this point.

I do think this infected weapon plot was dumb. Maybe would have been a good plot in an earlier season but they have defied this logic by covering themselves in guts too many times. As recently as this season in fact when Gabriel and Negan did it.

I’m pretty much over trying to apply logic to what the characters are thinking though. I just roll with it and hope to be entertained.

In that sense the action was decent this episode. But the infection part was dumb. People laying around with fevers and you don’t think maybe they might die overnight?

Morgan told him the guy he killed (the outpost leader whose name I can never remember) did it but apparently the kid didn’t believe him. It was really the long haired dude still in the pin.

It was definitely plot convenince to have him go in but at the same time he is a kid and stupid so not completely out of the realm of believability. Not to mention that kid wouldn’t have gotten more than a round or two off with that gun before it knocked him to the ground. Any of the adults who have fired one should have realized that.

They killed off grown up mature Carl and have replaced him with young dumb blonde Carl.

That's right, I forgot he told him it was the dude he already killed. But still kind of odd that he just doesn't believe Morgan. And how did he get a key, do they just leave them laying around? And it's not really that consistent, he's smart enough to realize Morgan is lying to him and to steal a key, but too stupid to realize he can just shoot through the fence.

Also forgot to add....the Hilltop people can hit headlights with accuracy, but then can't hit a damn thing when a group of Saviors is bunched up right in front of them. I guess Simon wore the plot armor this week. And yes, how many freakin Saviors are there? For that matter, it was pretty apparent all these Hilltop people appeared out of thin air this week just so they can be killed off.

You're right. It was the Kingdom group.
When I saw Simon and the Saviors walking forward in a bunch, I knew something stupid was about to happen.

What I find frustrating is that Rick and his people just do not seem to learn. They make the same mistakes over and over. If we all had a drink when they get their guns taken away by an unarmed person, we would be stumbling, falling down drunks.
When the Garbage Pail Kids took all of their guns, Ricks people were in front with the kids behind them ready to grab their weapons.

I think that I am watching just because I am already invested but I have to say that this show jumped the shark a long time ago.

Shane was the best character on the show, imo, so when he went, I wasn't far behind.

Yep.

I know Shane had to be killed to develop Rick’s character but I felt like the writers could have done so much more with Shane’s character instead of the whole Lori love triangle, making him go crazy.

He was the most realistic survivor on the show that knew what had to be done before anyone else.

Some characters on TWD are so annoying that I wish them a dire end.
Here is a list of characters that I wished would die and my wish came true:
  • Dale
  • Lori
  • Andrea
  • Beth
  • Carl
  • Spencer
Characters that I wish would die but are still alive:
  • Gabriel
  • Eugene
  • Jadis
  • Gregory
  • Negan
  • Simon

My lord...the writing, or this episode maybe the editing. Junkyard lady goes through all that....for nothing. This is why 16 episodes is too much for this show, you end up with more ridiculous scenarios where Negan should be dead and he gets out. And this time he's tied up and then suddenly has a gun and flare? Huh?

Rick is worse than Negan at this point.

Both Morgan and the kid stuck the pointed sticks through the neck/throats of their live targets...
Head shots only into Walkers.

He just magically got out of the ropes and grabs a gun and flare.

yeah, overall i liked last night's episode. maybe one of the better ones of the season. but i'm with ya...i was like, so he's got two free hands, and decides to load a pistol and light a flare, vs. untying himslef and just shooting janus?

ok.

Horrible. They actually had one of the best plot twists and it ended with a dud.
Negan is at least working from a philosophy as savior. He really believes what he's saying.

Rick executed those saviors, which makes him mad man.

The show is a chore at this point. Just want to see it though.

yep. the first 3 seasons were excellent. season 4 was good.

it's gone down hill since. i actually liked last night's episode, but i did look up about about 9:40, and said to my wife...well, more than half way thru the show, and nothing's happened yet...........

they even acknowledged it on talking dead afterward about how Rick is the reason you want to turn it off, and keep watching at the same time. which i thought was telling......lol.

His hands apparently weren't free enough to untie himself and if that were the case he absolutely needed Janis to free him.

Now having said that it was silly (and in the script obviously) that she'd leave him "sufficiently" free to avail himself of a convenient gun, a flare and pictures she cared about enough to be used as leverage.
