The Weekly/BiWeekly School Shooting Thread

People on the right don’t despise public school. We despise the fact that you don’t teach “life” anymore. You only teach to “test” well. These kids can’t even sign their freaking name man! They have no idea how to take care of themselves when they graduate. They can’t balance a checkbook, run a household, cook, no shop or auto mechanics classes anymore. You’re leaving it to the parents to teach the things we grew up with. Don’t blame the right. Blame yourselves.

Math is racist. They don’t teach cursive anymore. They dumbed down the grading scale. It’s ridiculous.

Who cares about cursive? But they do still teach it they just don't waste time in a handwriting class anymore

I was just telling my niece that her little 3.8 gpa would likely be a 3.0 in our day because an A started at 94% and above.

Who cares about cursive? A kid can’t sign a freaking check assuming he/find someone to fill it out for them.

The issue here is parents aren't being parents and people don't understand right from wrong anymore. The dad purchased the gun and obviously left it out.
The gun needs to be secured and should not have been available to the minor. The kid posted it on his IG account. GUNS AREN'T TOYS! Dad should be chrged with murder as well. Let's add the fact mom and dad told the son not to talk and hired an attorney. I love my child but I'd tell them to squeal like a pig and they are going to prison for life. Same thing happened with that laundrie fellow, parents tried to cover for him as well.

Did parents in the 1970s secure their guns? Seems like that’s not the real issue

They wanted me to teach the 3/5th compromise in mathematics. What’s most insane to me (even more so than teaching that in math) is their complete misunderstanding of the compromise.

They saw it as “mean white people thought blacks were only 3/5ths of a person”.

The obvious answer is the 3/5ths compromise was had nothing to do with how much of a person someone was. It was about limiting the power of slave states.

Special Ed is a whole different animal.

You never answer the question about discrepancies in your school system. How are you guys working to address those? Every school system I have been in there method for dealing with that was to decrease discipline in general.

He also lives in a top secret place near Atlanta where gas is $2.67 a gallon so it’s probably magical and enchanting!

The commonality I’ve seen across multiple school systems is simple. Massive disparities exist in terms of failure rates, graduation rates, act/sat scores, and discipline.

The way I’ve seen schools deal with it is the same way universities are dealing with the act/sat scores. They just got rid of it. They encouraged teachers to avoid referrals and avoid failing by making it more and more difficult (creating hoops you had to jump through).

checks? Seriously?

So teach an entire class on cursive so a kid can develop a signature?
It’s sad as hell these kids can’t sign their names anymore. But, I guess that’s what happens when you teach to test rather than teach to succeed

Kids can sign their names and that has nothing to do with a test. Writing cursive is useless

What discrepancies? Achievement? We have multiple programs. Schools have a good deal of autonomy.
Disciplinary discrepancies? It's not an issue.
I truly do not know what you are getting at. Our district has 30,000 students - it is not an issue.

Wherever there is a diversion needed….
It’s funny. Right before the message parlor in Atlanta I was telling my best friend “I wouldn’t be surprised if a mass shooting happens using an AR-15 soon because the Biden administration needs something to happen because of how hard they’re pushing for them “. It wasn’t a week later.

Racial discrepancies in discipline are not an issue in your district? I’m not buying that

It’s never useless to be MORE educated than they are today. That’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve heard today and I’ve been arguing with the left. (Hint hint)

A foreign language would make one more educated. Writing cursive is worthless when the alternative works just fine
