The Weightlifters Thread

Trasher, if you're wanting to get into rock climbing, the best thing to do is to start climbing rocks. I've got a couple of friends that take bouldering pretty seriously, they all have enviable upper body strength and chicken legs. lol

I do it recreationally, and I have since high-school. I'm not looking to be competitive. Just want to get back into climbing shape so I can go on outings with my buddy.

I still want to gain muscle for other reasons, but I want to limit any unnecessary weight gain.

I go to the gym and boulder twice a week. Usually once over the weekend and on thursday.

wow

first time working out in a while last night. it was ROUGH. I pushed through though. Feel good today

Watch out for the last couple of steps today. Don't be like me. LOL. Chest and tris last night went pretty well. I'm following this plan now. Staying committed to leaning out for realz this time.

Heavy front squats, really heavy hack squats, and a drop set on leg extensions (200-110 for 5 each) helped make moving a challenge. I fully expect tomorrow to be worse.

Can anybody tell me who makes this?

So I finally decided to try and mix it up with one of these BodyBuilding.com workouts. Trying the Kris Gethin one, I liked it because it seemed like a pretty logical push/pull type of split, which I greatly prefer to grouping. Just finished the first week, gotta say I like it so far. The extra cardio is helping me slim down a bit, I've definitely packed on some fat over the last few months. Day 7 was legs, I did three sets of 50 leg presses with 320lbs, sandwiched between three different superset groups, one of which included three sets of 40 lunges with 30lb weights. I will be surprised if I can walk tomorrow.

I'm on day 5 of the Gethin plan. The cardio does help. I've been pleased. I know day 7 is the legs superset workout. Not looking forward to that...

How is the diet working for you? I really miss the dairy products. I drink a lot of milk and I've been reduced to putting protein powder in my coffee...

I prefer push/pull as well and have been wanting to make a change too. I'll have to check this out

I actually prefer not to do a push/pull, and I like workouts that have some overlap. I like to do dips on arms day so that I can get a real low intensity chest workout later in the week, etc.

Every week I try to talk myself out of my leg workout, and yesterday I actually went through with the laziness. I feel empty now
