The Weightlifters Thread

True. If you put in all this hard work, you want to admire the results. The same way when I finished my deck, I sat outside and downed a 6 pack just staring and admiring my creation. It's no different, but nobody would accuse me of being a narcissist for admiring a cabinet or something I made in my garage.

By the time I get home, I've lost my pump :)

Thing is, and most body builders will understand this, flexing is functionally important to working out. It increases pump and will actually help you get that extra rep or two if you do it between sets. It also maintains pump if you do it periodically throughout the day. So the buff guys will understand; it's the people who are new or casual gym-goers who are put off by it. So just don't be a clown about it.

Well, flexing while sitting down on the bench in between sets, and standing in front of the mirror and doing your best Arnold impression are two different animals. Most wouldn't even notice you flexing on your own away from the mirrors. We're talking about being idiots and checking ourselves out

I have heard that flexing is beneficial, but haven't looked into it enough to actually incorporate some functional version of flexing into my workouts. Should I just do a set on bench, and then hulk out for a few minutes, before resuming?

make sure you grunt while you flex. it also improves pump. the louder, the better

Are you referencing Arnold's story? He said he talked this guy into doing that for a European show. He convinced the guy that if he let out screams, the audience and judges would go crazy for him.

Grunting is the best supplement there is. I used to grunt while making a hard move when I was nearing my limit rock climbing. It never failed.

No, I've never heard that one. How did it turn out? lol

I agree, but I try to flex casually where no one can see. I love it in my gym when guys try to lift their shirt and flex their abs even though they have none. I will show up those d-bags by showing the abs.

The best is when I where tank tops to the gym and people give me these weird looks like I am an *******. Sorry I have lost 30 pounds and have about a 7% bf and want to show the veins and **** haha. Then people ask me advice and realize I am a really nice guy.

Do you wear sweatbands and tube socks?

I'm going to cease to function after my 8 week cycle is up and I have to quit taking OEP and jack3d. Better stock up on 5 hour energys.

Really? Why because I sometimes wear tank tops to the gym? I do not think I am mister bad ass in the gym. People tend to have a problem with a guy who is either bigger or in better shape then they are. It hurts their ego.
