The Weightlifters Thread

White pasta is my main downfall. I love pasta dishes. They are incredibly easy, and for the most part healthy.... Other than the pasta and the huge amounts of cheeses that usually come with it.

And I refuse to eat wheat pasta!

I do. But I eat a lot of pasta with my chicken. Steaks and potatoes. And pizza.

When I say terribly unhealthy, I don't mean junk and fast food. I just am not going to sit there and plan out a meal where my calories come from exactly the right places, and there are no bad fats, etc. I'm gonna grab a bunch of stuff that sounds good to me, throw it in a pan, and enjoy it.

Good fats are highly important and really not hard to come by, I'll post up a good rule of thumb in a bit for making sure you go for mono/poly-unsaturated fa's. Will make a world of difference and I promise you'll be able to eat plenty of tasty stuff.

Almonds and natural peanut butter are my favorites. Also, I put canola oil on some of my meals (brown rice/chicken).

Oh yeah, nothing like some olive oil, pasta and steak strips. As far as bulking I'm going dirty until I see a spare tire in the mirror. Tomorrow's upper body day; suns out guns out yall

I love the feeling where it hurts to move, and you feel like you accomplished something. This is another animal entirely. If I sit down for 5 minutes, I have trouble standing up without falling over, lol.

Well, for anything other than deep frying, I prefer actual good olive oil. Is it cheap enough to fry with? I've never actually deep fried with olive oil.

I've never used it for frying, smoke point is too low (for extra virgin anyway, which is all I buy). CAnola is a good, low fat oil for frying. But safflower or avocado oil is the best, but more expensive.

I enjoy cooking with macadamia nut oil, great taste, high smoke point, and very healthy.

I just have a variety of oils I use for different stuff, but olive oil is what usually finds its way into the pan. It's a damn sight better than butter, as is any vegetable-based oil. Working in fatty fish twice a week is ideal, as that particular kind of omega-3 (long chain) is the most beneficial. Then you have your various nuts, and things like avocado.

Chances are any bit of fat in your diet, if saturated, there is a mono/poly-unsaturated you can supplant it with.
