The Weightlifters Thread

Since my surgery on my arm, I can't lift heavy for about another year. So I've decided to cut. I started off around 200lbs and 20-25% body fat.

Weighed in at 177 today. Body fat was measured by a caliper and between 15-18%,

I'm trying to cut down to 12 or less.

I know I've lost a lot of muscle mass, but there's a lot of exercises I can't do due to arm currently.

I'm at 13% right now. Kinda my norm. 6'1", 174. By March I hope to be around 9% again. I can usually maintain that throughout the summer.

These guys that stay at 6 or below are pretty disciplined. That's really hard for me, and I'm naturally thin.

At what point do you normally see your abs? I'm normally around 20%, so this is a nice change.

Yes. I guess. Abs have never really been something I pay attention to.

I've never seen mine, so I'm kind of excited. I've never cut for too long because I've always been more of a power lifter, but since I'm rehabbing a broke arm I have no choice

I don't have the frame to be a power lifter. That was never an option. But I've always been naturally thin and cut though.

Are there any legit supplements? I feel like they are all a scam. Proprietary blend means it's all stepped on garbage, it seems.

Protein
Creatine
Glutamine
Zma
Casein

I'm cool with protein, but I prefer to get it from meat and eggs. What creatine do you like? I was looking at old photos and I did look bigger when I was on it, but I don't know if that's from creatine or other factors.

Creapure is the current leader in consistency and quality.

Most of the other boutique creatines just have anecdotal support.

Mono hydrate. I get the body building.com variety because it's the cheapest per gram

I've never been a big pre work out guy.

That certainly has saved you a small fortune over the years.

Beginning in January, I started making my own pre-workout. After adjusting the concoction of the year, I am satisfied with my product. Once I reach a threshold in which I have reached a tolerance for the pre-workout, I will simply take a caffeine pill for a stretch of 2-3 weeks. I don't mind sharing the mixture if anyone is interested.

I'd like for some of us to share our meal plans, in hopes that I can find a recipe you use that I like:

Breakfast: smoothie made with egg white, acai berry juice, mango, strawberries, and blueberries

Lunch: turkey chili made with 3lbs of turkey, 4 cans of kidney beans, 2 cans of black beans, 4 cans of rotel, and 2 packets of chili seasoning. Makes 10 servings.

Dinner: option 1. spinach salad made with spinach, 1 can of tuna, 2 ounces walnuts, and a small amount of vinegrette dressing
Option 2. Fiesta chicken made with chicken, fire roasted tomatoes, corn, and black beans.
Option 3. Casein protein shake with milk.

Snacks: 1 ounce serving of coco powered almonds.
