The Weightlifters Thread

I've been doing a light weight high-rep golf workout for the last few weeks. All the sudden, for the last week my right bicep has been twitching. It started off slowly but now it is to the point of twitching nearly all day, like it's gotten worse or something. It's my lower bicep. It doesn't hurt but man it is annoying. You can see my whole bi just jumping sometimes. I've googled & googled trying to find out what's wrong. Has this happened to anyone else? I may end up having to see a neurologist.

Are you Billy C?

I don't think people here are likely to admit to using a preworkout sup

I've never used one. It seems like a waste of money.

I have taken nitric oxide before, but that wasn't done intentionally as a preworkout. It was a part of the mega men sports vitamin packs that GNC used to sell. I miss my neon urine

I've taken NOXplode and Jack3d, but I haven't had a pre-workout in like 4 years. I don't really have a problem with paying for placebo, because a lot of gym gains are made possible by the mental side of things. Once you realize it's not actually doing much for you, you stop getting the mental benefit of the placebo.

I guarantee you I worked out harder than I would have, on pre-workouts.

It may be part placebo for some. But for me, it's mostly mental energy. I work out after work, so some days I'm just mentally worn out. Sometimes I need some caffeine to get in there and move heavy things around. I buy it 95% for the caffeine, but if there are other benefits, so be it.

I have used both NOxplode and Jack3d, but right now when I need something, I use ON's powder. I think it's called AmiN.O. something.

Yet it's probably 100x more expensive than buying coffee.

I eat a banana or put some carbs in a protein shake. PWO makes my stomach feel turrrrrrrible and I wanna Vom my entire workout

I use honey in my shakes after workouts so I have some fast digesting carbs. Honey in a vanilla protein powder tastes incredible.

I'm all about getting my protein from food. I do have a protein bar every day, but other than that I try really hard to get 115-140 g of protein from quality sources (eggs, chicken, fish, beef, turkey).

People used to always tell me to do it this way, but I was too lazy, and couldn't necessarily afford it. Now that I've done it, I don't think I can go back to 60g in powder/day.

What is the price per serving?

Well, it's about $1 per "serving." ($30 - $35 for a 30 serving jug)

But they list a serving as 4 scoops, I believe. And I rarely ever even use 2 full scoops. So, it's more like $0.50 a serving for me.

And I only use it maybe 2 times a week. So a couple jugs a year.

What are some of the cheaper meats you guys like to eat?

1.99 boneless chicken with rib meat

~10 for 60 eggs

And I some tuna also (don't know the price off the top of my head).

Ground beef/turkey, london broil, strip steak, tilapia, chicken and tuna.

Mostly tuna and chicken. I think you get the most bang for your $ with tuna.

My issue with ground turkey and ground beef is that they each go for about 3.25 a lb or more.

I save so much money on meat at Costco. It's a ridiculous difference between Costco and my local grocer. Chicken is 1/2 the price.

I may look into it. I'm sure Raleigh has one.

So you're paying like 99 cents for chicken breast?
