The Win over South Carolina Looks pretty good

you can't suck all the credit for beating USCe and then completely forget about the garbage performance vs. Vandy at home..

Oh Good Lord, here comes Mr. Doom and Gloom to try and rain on everyone's parade.

I guess you forgot we had our 3rd string quarterback in?

I guess you forgot we would've won without one clipping call?

I guess you forgot we won the game until they overturned the 4th down call (which has happened to us more times the past few years than it should have)?

Agreed. We looked great against USCe, very good vs UGA, and terrible against everyone else that mattered (UF and Vandy both should have been wins with better coaching). I don't think it made much difference who the QB was at the time - offensive game planning/preparation/execution/adjustments was a joke during most of the year (UGA and SCjr games were exceptions), and defense was a slight improvement vs previous year (all time worst).

But the qb was the difference in those games. Not sure how you can say it didnt matter. Who was the qb against USC and UGA? Who was the qb against everyone else?

Just accept is - Justin Worley is a good qb.

The Gamecocks win over Wisconsin of the big 10 in the bowl game just improved our stock especially with them being one of a few SEC teams with wins so far.

You think that win was impressive, just wait til we land a couple of top 5 recruiting classes!

Not really. Team 118 is a whole different animal with even more to prove than team 117. So there's no stock, they have to make a name for themselves. Our stock will rise when we beat not just someone, but several someones of note. Adoree, you could help make that happen. You listening?

And I don't buy Worley was the key.

He was a major part of it. The true key was synergy. The crowd was exuding so much will, so much faith, and so much love for the team that day, I don't think we could have lost. Same thing with Georgia, we didn't lose so much as get screwed by a rule so dumb that even its own dumbness is smarter than the rule or people who made it.

I'm really not pro or against Worley but as far as I remember he was the QB vs Oregon, and also played the whole second half vs UF (had horrible late interception to seal that loss). He just seems to take forever to wind up and deliver the ball (Dobbs on the other hand often looked inaccurate and lacking touch).

As much as I hated the loss to Vandy, I will take that for a win over SCjr. How long has it been since we felt good? Since the team felt good after a game? Some people think Jones lost the team after that despite the fact of a QB situation the fact is there was actually hope in the program not seen in several years.

Since it has been well documented on vn that the coaches couldn't do anything this year with this too slow, not talented enough, non-sec caliber roster against the toughest schedule in the history of the planet in any sport on any continent, I would like to credit the too slow, not talented enough, non-sec caliber players who made that a memorable day at Neyland.

We were in attendance at that game and it was an absolute desire on the part of the coaches and team and fans. We had a blast that day in the stands as well. We have shown this year that we are on the way back. I believe Coach Jones will lead us back to our proper place in CFB, but it is going to be a process and we'll have to be patient.

I agree that we should remain patient. It just surprises me how many experts here have laid this win solely at the feet of Butch Jones for the past few months as a testament to his coaching prowess, and yet say the seven losses were completely the fault of the players. With that logic, if the players get all of the blame for the loss, then they should get all of the credit for this win. However, the truth is credit for the victories and responsibility for the losses are shared by the players and coaches alike.

We flashed this year mostly because we had an experienced and pretty talented OL and we could run the ball. There were times when we played a /little/ defense too. Our problem was that our defense was mediocre, at best, and we had a bad passing "attack." It was bad enough having inexperienced wideouts and inexperienced QBs, but not having a TE who we could get us 5/10 yards regularly made it worse. We will see next year how important a good OL is, I'm afraid.

Maybe our an play next year coupled with better wr will mean more wins. The ol might nit be as bad as some think. The secondary will certainly be better as will the lb. If we get ol and dl shored up we can bridge gap between now and our next top five recruiting class. Then we will be on our way.

As said earlier, it was always a good win.

But if you want to claim it looks better because of their win.... then wouldn't that make the Bama and UGA losses look worse?

IMO, the OL comes down to finding a LT. If they do then I think the O will improve overall. I like the upcoming guys for their aggression. Other than wanting to have guys in the draft he could point to when recruiting, I am not sure why Jones didn't replace some of the starters with guys like Crowder anyway. Aggression from an OL makes up for ALOT of talent assuming the athletic talent gap was very much.

The only other player lost who made a contribution this year is Neal. He should be replaceable from the group they have. If Azzani is better than what he showed this year (and I hope he is) then the receivers should take a huge leap forward.

I think we'll see better execution and more productivity.

The D to me is the real issue. I have close to zero confidence in Jancek. Sorry. Just the truth. They lose a ton of experience on the DL. LB still won't be deep. I for one have not dissed the talent of the secondary. But the DC has to stop putting them in positions to fail.

No, because we won a game we were overmatched in. Now, the Vandy loss was questionable. But, after losing North and learning Dobbs was injured it makes more sense.
