The you don't want to get involved in this discussion thread (split)

I understand gay people want to let people know, but I don't care! Keep it to yourself, if you're gay, good for you, but I don't give a crap! I don't want to know about it. I believe it is wrong, but that is part of my religion. Just keep it to yourself!

How is it wrong? Cuz a book written by some dudes 2000 years ago said so? What's the actual wrong part about being gay? All things that are sins or illegal are so because they hurt someone. Who does being gay hurt?

as someone with numerous openly gay male friends I can PROMISE you they don't go around looking at every male on the face of this planet in a sexual manner. Your misconceptions are incredible.

I don't go around looking at every female on the planet in a sexual way, but I'm still not allowed in a woman's locker room...??

That's because you have a different biological makeup. It's proven that a gay male's brain works differently, biologically, than a straight male's. Lots of interesting stuff going on with the hypothalamus and the area that connects the left side to the right side.

You are mad for thinking you would be able to "see or understand desire there". You are biologically inclined to females, as gays are to the same-sex. It's science.

So your sayin they crave poop?

Well Slydell, read it.

His Mom was a virgin when he was born. He is the Son of God. He healed people. He disciples 12 guys and commissioned them to tell the world about him, and they did. He turned over a bunch of tables in the temple out of anger. He never sinned. He died on a cross to pay the price for my sins, was buried, and 3 days after that he arose from the dead to conquer death; so that I could live eternity in heaven. Right now he's in heaven. In the future he'll come back to Earth, and he rule the earth for 1,000 years, have one last battle with Satan, then destroy the earth with fire.

Well, all that from a book written centuries after the fact by who knows. We all get to chose what we believe or what we don't believe. I'll not argue that.

Exactly, God is supernatural. So, there is a point where logic won't do you any good, we call that faith.

What does that have to do with the complete night and day between the vengeful smiting God in the OT with the forgiving loving God in the NT?

One of the best post in this entire thread.
I wish everyone of a particular faith felt the same way as you do.

I guess you missed that part of The Bible where it says to correct one another ... Judging someone, as defined by you, means someone having the ability to judge someone's relationship with Christ. No, only God can do that but God did tell us to rebuke one another and hold each other accountable. What is God referring to? Obviously it is sin!

Hey Volprof let me make it simple for you. Let's get to the bottom line as far as God is concerned. Plain and simple homosexuality is a sin. The wages of sin is death. Homosexuality is a sin just like other things such as drunkenness, using the Lord's name in vain, etc. Further, homosexuality is a sin which is defined both in the New and Old Testament.

Every single person God put on this earth made us predisposed to certain sins. I can tell you I am not predisposed to homosexuality but I am predisposed to other sins. Yes, I can do certain sins very easily. See how simple that is?!

Finally, if you are correct in you "educated" secular view and I am wrong then no big issue. On the other hand, if I am correct you will have a long and unpleasant time thinking I wish I would have listened to that man! I'm not PC but a unapologetic follower of Jesus Christ. Love the person but hate the SIN!

It's as simple as going to God with a repentant heart, asking for forgiveness, and asking him to come into your life. I am an example of how God will forgive sins! It's that simple but unfortunately some will never understand!

The ol' burn or believe argument. I don't care. Even if it were true, imo, I still wouldn't care. I refuse to accept a god that has a place like hell in store for people simply because they refuse to follow him. So, in essence, I don't care.

I don't mean for that to sound hateful. I'm just saying I prefer to defend people I know to be real with real needs (i.e., gay people in the U.S.) in the here and now.

I don't understand people's problem with gay people. They aren't hurting anyone. And saying its because religion just shows you can't think for yourself.

So let me get this straight, we should have separate locker rooms based upon sexual orientation now?
You feel this same way about lesbians in a female locker room?
Hell, lets start having separate lunch tables and water fountains for those who we don't agree with on everyday social issues, I hear that worked out great for our country 50-60 years ago.

The one God inspired and also preserved.

And which one is that? The KJV, the NKJV, the New International, the four Prostestant gospels, the Apocrypha, the Catholic Bible, etc.? They've all been preserved.

Don't argue with an idiot, they'll bring you down to their level and beat you with their expertise.

In the OT, God is also forgiving and loving.

In the NT, God is also vengefully smiting.

I'm pretty sure he was talking about how the bible portrays his actions, not his looks.

Where'd you grow up? Nazi Germany? :p

Tennessee, for the record. Before exiting this thread, I have to say that I don't view the bible as historical fact. Some do, but I'm not one of them.

People want to be gay, that's there choice. I don't want them out saying I'm a homophobe if I think it is wrong and sickening. And that book written by some dudes 2000 years ago, is 100% true.

Uh... How about... "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone."

Whose words were those?

"That's just me. I'm just thinking: There's more there! She's got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I'm saying? But hey, sin: It's not logical, my man. It's just not logical."

Not sure if you're asking a serious question or trying to prove something....

God allows skeptics to believe lies. If you're skeptical about Christ then he'll allow this issue to be a stumbling block for you.

Nope, it's a fact. In fact, a friend of mine who happens to be gay once said, "Why would I choose to be gay? Life is hard enough as it is. I can't help who I am."

Ron, Villian, volprof I'll end it here. No one is in any position to judge another. No one is better another. We were all born into this world destined for hell and the only saving grace is the blood of Jesus. I love you like brothers just like we are called to love everyone like brothers and sisters in Christ. Gay or straight, black or white, Republican or Democrat. Every religion/belief has those that twist reality just like every football fan base does. Whether you like it or not I'll be praying for you.

Go Vols.
