You may be right on your assumptions. My concern is going back to ho-hum basketball. Auburn has money and
a new gym and they don't seam to be burning it up with a new coach. So I don't see us doing any better at finding a good coach even with TBA and a deep pocket.
Time will tell its story. But, I bet the ones who want Pearl gone the most will be the ones who scream the loudest after he's gone.

Tony Barbee is in his first year and inherited a roster that makes what Pearl took over in 05 look like the 96 Bulls by comparison.

You guys hate bruce to the point that you make ridiculous comments. Favorable draww blah blah blah. Give him credit when it is due for once. They didnt win games in the 50s or 60s so it couldnt be all defense

If you don't think Pearl's offensive philosophy was primarily based off his "controlled chaos" scheme to lead to turnovers and fast break points primarily, then I don't know what to tell you.

Defense and rebounding are staples of solid tournament teams. It's not coincidence that the team went as far as it did when we done both well. Couple that with a favorable draw, and you have an Elite 8.

Tennessee has not been able to hire quality coaches in the past. Just look at our history. I think we lucked up in
getting Pearl. Another coach will take five to six years just to get us back to par if they can even do it. I hate
that we are in this situation, but, I just don't see us gaining anything by getting rid of Pearl.

It's getting funny when people commend their defense and rebounding last year as keys to their success and people think it's a dig at Pearl.

Agree with that but that is not an offensive scheme and certainly not a hc offense. U ever played bball?

So ray Mears and Don Devoe weren't good hires?

Don't let the fact that Dickey could care less about bball and didn't care who ran the program (and hired accordingly) mean that UT can't make a good hire. Let it focus instead on the man making the hires.

Just shows that no matter what they will defend him to the death.

I'm fairly certain I gave Pearl abd staff kudos last year. That's despite the favorable draw.

I'm puzzled how a hiring that took the program from 5 wins to a roster that won an SEC title and went to the NCAA Tournament 4 straight years was a bad one.

Yes.

And do you not understand the difference between a maticulous half court philosophy (offense and defense) and a full-court "controlled chaos" philosophy that encompasses both offense and defense?

He tried to become a half-court team on both ends and not full court. The flex offense as he runs it is NOT a great half court offense.

His teams have shown they can play with the best of them on defense in the half court. To date, the offensive execution in the half-court is below par. It is what it is.

Please follow the posts before you comment on something. The post i responded to made a dig at bruce coachin hc offense. I responded tha they made it to elite 8 doin so. Supposedly he won by scrapping his controlled chaos march which they didnt run last year. The comment was about hc offense nothing else. And yes bruce is good at coachin defense so it wasnt taken as a dig. I again point out u dont get to elite 8 only playin good defense and rebounding
