Thoughts After Reading The Letter...

How do you retain a coach unable to perform his job for a period somewhere between two and five years?

Hat, I would hope that he would resign or be terminated at the end of this season. Do you think that is a possibility or does it appear that Hamilton is going to just ride this out until sanctions are finalized?

The cover letter to Jimmy Cheek says that every violation listed in the NOA should be considered a major violation unless it's clearly labeled a secondary. The Sept 14 bump incident is not labeled a secondary.

Thanks for the clarification. Only the last item is specifically listed as secondary.

You can't, but you don't know that he will miss that long.
Exactly. The 'AA will probably give him a commendation. Past practice of the 'AA, along with every coach and compliance guy I've talked to since September saying there's no way the 'AA lets him survive, is a silly thing to look at when making projections as to what will happen. I should just throw darts at a board.

He lied verbally and in writing to the university and the NCAA. He then tried to get others to lie for him. What else does he need to do to convince you?

That does not make him a compulsive liar.

I don't know what your "guys" have told you, but the 'AA can't fire Pearl can they? UT has to, and it doesn't look like they will.

Only reason i ask is because in your business do u not expect the punishment to fit the crime? Because to me the punishment should and the years punishment to me for an ordinarily secondary offense seems harsh consider worse offenses are getting less.

If you think UT is going to wait two or more years for Pearl to be able to coach again, you've gone around the bend. The 'AA can make it utterly impossible for Pearl to do his job and there's nothing all of Mike Hamilton's proclamations of loyalty can do to stop that.

I will agree with you on that one

Please try hard to give a serious answer. I dont know if the guy is a compulsive liar or not. He tells one lie and tries to cover it up but does that make him a sleaze ball or whatever that he gets called here. I asked a serious question to the poster that put it out there as fact and would like a serious answer which may shed light on all of this for me.

You assume that BP's only lied to the 'AA once. Or that he only lied in response to a single question. Both presumptions are patently false.

You fail to recall that he not only compelled, encouraged or failed to correct his assistants from doing the same - but did so in the defense of his lies. Further, he attempted (but failed) to do the same with a previous recruit's family. This was not a one-time lack of judgment or panicked response, but rather, a systematic and intentional perpetuation of dishonesty.

You may not be privy to his many dishonesties that eventually culminated in his divorce, and his previous other actions of the same - both in his personal and professional life - that are less fully known or publicly aware.

This is not an example of a momentary lapse in judgment, as some insist on believing and purporting, but just another example in a long-standing and well-established pattern of behavior.

Bruce Pearl has now told everyone both exactly who and what he is - ironically, you now only have to believe him.

That anyone could argue that he should remain as one of the most visible and important representatives of the University of Tennessee is only possible in complete ignorance of these facts, to believe that he is more important than the University itself, or to escape the very bounds of reason.

And its inarguable, and not even worth debating.

His personal life has nothing to do with his professional life. JMO.
I've run across so many people in my career whose professional ethics were markedly different than what they exhibited in their personal lives. By so many, I mean not a single one I can think of. Character is character.

This answer has to be proof that you realize the naivete of your previous declaration.

No it isn't. I choose to judge people professionally for what they do in their professional life. You may not, and that is fine. My belief on that doesn't make me stupid or dwell in a trailer. What is stupid is when people don't have a credible response to someone they choose to resort to insults.

That they are each so readily and easily distinguishable in your mind is a sufficient response.

But, no, I wouldn't let a known liar perform any service for me.

Unlike you, who want him to be the second-most visible representation of the University which you claim to support and care for.

See where we differ (besides living conditions, alone)?

I have stated in this thread, and others that I think Pearl should be fired, but that I don't think University will do so. You know nothing about me or my living conditions so don't pretend to. However, I have driven through Halls before, so I know you know how to distinguish between types of trailers.

So you have full faith in someone living a double life? Seems logical.

And who has not given you credible information? All this mobile home talk threw me off.

Do you know the personal life of every single person you do buisness with?

You fail to see how BP has shown a pattern of dishonesty in BOTH a his personal AND professional life, and want him to remain as coach, despite the mountainous evidences to the contrary.

But its everyone else who is stupid, in failing to agree with such idiocy?

Roger, that.

In my situation, mostly yes. The ones who try to hide it don't realize their professional actions shine the light on their personal life.

Can you read? Or do you just choose to ignore what doesn't support what you are trying to say. I'll say it one more time for you. I think UT should fire Pearl. However I do not think they will.
