There are a lot of condescending people on the board tonight.

Condescending kids that aren't even out of school yet, but preach of real world issues and demand that their opinion must be shared by all or everyone else is then a fool. People that preach of integrity and character, then send cowardice private messages.

Or possibly a self-righteous ass making incorrect assumptions about the demographics of this message board, while admitting on several occasions he hasn't actually read the document that's being discussed.
Maybe you dont know how this works. If it gets personal or you are directing harsh comments that don't follow the rules, the board is instructed, by the site founder and its Mods, to send it in a PM.

I haven't argued about what the document states. I have simply stated my opinion in regards to BP's actions and how I view them. Your up the wrong tree with the self righteous comment. Jabbing posts at 12-3 AM are seldom posted by adults that have families and are in the middle of big boy business everyday. That's not self righteous, it's common sense.

The self imposed penalties are unique, it will be interesting to see. I tend to be more of a half full kind of guy.
I agree, that and the SEC penalty of suspending Pearl for 8 SEC games already. Calhoun only got 3 games. I would hope the NCAA would take that to heart before dishing out their punishment. You know, when Slive handed out that penalty to Pearl I thought he was a d-bag and even though he still is he may have saved Pearl from being canned.
Fired i think but wasnt the violation they committed major in nature? I was under the impression that they supplied recruits with benefits. No?

So youre saying that calhoun would have been punished more severely if not for the assistants?

There's a very good possibility that he would have been punished worse. But their AD made the call to fire the ones assistants.
Just pointing out that for those praising Hamilton for his bravado of slapping Pearl with a pay deduction.

But see here is what I dont understand for them to punish calhoun means he knew what was going on so why would he only get 3 games regardless of who else was flamed in the deal?

At this point, the best interest of the school has to be the only thing that Hamilton or anyone with any decision-making influence considers. The "Bruce Pearl's done so much" stuff doesn't work anymore because rewarding what he's done on the court by keeping him now comes at a huge price. They might consist of: major sanctions being taken against our basketball program, an absolute PR nightmare (which is already taken place), and an overall sense that we are willing to place winning at a decent level in basketball above having any integrity.
I've long maintained that if Pearl could get less than 1 year suspension then I wouldn't argue with retaining him. However, I'm quite sure the 'AA isn't going to look fondly on Pearl committing yet another Major Violation in only a matter of days after his public cryfest.
Bottomline, at this point, it seems that an objective analysis would lead any rational person to the conclusion that the cost of keeping Pearl far outweighs the benefits of keeping him. It's truly a sad day for the University of Tennessee, and we can only hope that the people in power do the right thing for the future of the program.
Winning cures all. Pearl catches fire and rolls to the sweet 16 in the tournament, people calling for his head will be sorely disappointed. Fact is, the NCAA is a money making entity - having the Pearl drama during March madness is good for business.
Pearl lied about the attendees at a cookout. All the "holier than thou" types are treating it like transcript falsification, improper financial benefits, or university sanctioned doping.
The sky is in fact, not falling. If Pearl gets fired today - big deal.
