Tim Tebow: Heisman Winner

Tebow had over 200 yards and 3 touchdowns, and that was his worst game of the season. McFadden got held under 50 against Auburn, and his game against Tennessee wasn't really special.

Tebow's line was 12-26 158 yrds... 2 TD's 1 INT, 16-67 on the ground with 1TD.

DMac's line vs. Vols is skewed a bit cause he did nothing in the 1st half but he did have 117 yds on the ground. Mostly in the 2nd half.

Gents, look at it this way atleast the award went to a SEC program. We can all be happy about that. :dunno:

The game was out of hand before he did anything.

What does THAT have to do with it.
The F****** gators didnt even win the sec east this year.

So by your rules we should have gave it to Glenn Dorsey or Matt Flynn.

UNF*******believable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually Dorsey was a dark horse pick before he got hurt...Usually you have to be in contention for the national championship to even be considered a serious canidiate to win. This year was so screwed up that no one player on the teams playing for the championship was realistically eligible.

So they went to stats......I'll let you figure out what scoring 51 touchdowns means towards an MVP contest.

I can certainly understand the argument for McFadden, but with Tebow being the first 20-20 player, he makes a very strong case.

If it goes soley by the numbers then Colt Brennan should have won it last year. I understand the 20-20 thing. It's amazing, but do you really believe we'll see a back like McFadden for another 20 years? We'll see another Tim Tebow before we see another McFadden... Im sure of it.

Colt Brennan v. Tim Tebow
=
Kevin Smith v. Darren McFadden

Tebow and McFadden were definitely the top 2. My ballot would have had Tebow #1. Tebow was the best player in CFB this year. McFadden had a couple of games where he did nothing. Of course, the 2 big games that I saw each player in, Tebow made TN look silly while TN's defense held McFadden pretty well (which was a shock to everyone on this board).

and so did john parker wilson but I did not see his name on the ballot

Although I would have voted for DMac, I found myself feeling ok with TBo, he is a deserving winner, quite a young man. Would be happy to have had him as a Vol.

ESPN needs to back off its Heisman hype and quit promoting any one player. Mark May ,I believe said "they got it right just as ESPN told them". What BS, its not up to them, its up to the voters, stay out of it!

add jesse palmer to that saying.....

The voters DID get it right.

according to ESPN the sports God.... they got it right i guess you believe in Woodson's selection...also... Campaigning is not what they need to do.... I think Tebow is deserving of the Heisman but do not think he would have won it this year without ESPNs 3 week push... They took the June Jones statement and blew it out of portion... futhermore went to Tebow for interviews regarding it... Why didn't they interview Brennan or Daniel or Mc Fadden about it...

You guys do realize Tim Tebow was the first 20-20 player ever and had the highest QB rating of all Heisman Winners? Not to mention over 50 total touchdowns. He is no joke.

he is the best QB at this time...Not a Pat Sullivan, Not a Peyton Manning...Yet He may shock us all and make it big in the pro's (if any FL QB can he is the one, based on smarts, ability, size and most importantly determination) but let's not annoint him right now... Next year he must Validate it... I wish we had him at UT because he is a difference maker in the Game... but he is not D Mc Fadden. That guy is scary everytime he touches the ball and Tebow is not there yet... If you want something accomplished who would you give the ball to D Mac or Tebow... DMAC of course because he does not require as big of a supporting cast as Tebow... DMac can do it on his own where at this point Tebow cannot...

UT's D will be much better next year. They can shut down UF's offense. Tebow might have a TD or two, but nothing big.

Put Jones in the game and MacD's numbers are much Higher....

Yea, stop him about the same way they did this year. Pretty good for a "glorified fullback" who can't throw. Besides, FLA has better young talent than TN anyway. Berry is an outstanding player and has a knack for the ball, but thats it. We'll bring the noise in Neyland next year, not to worry.

Saying Berry is our only young talent is laughable.
Just one of many young players. Ask UK about G. Jones and his great OT TD catch.

It is laughable, but i was talking about TN defense. Yea, i'll say it Vinson isn't that good, Rogan not very good, McKenzie um..didn't impress me. Ben Martin, i know he got hurt, he should be ok. I was mainly complementing Eric Berry cause he makes that defense go.

Alright, my bad. I thought you meant as a whole.
I think Ben Martin will be huge but that just might be because he's from around here :)

put the mongoloid on a leash and bring him to Knoxville

The 'blow deserved it, but I think DMac is a better pro. Could have gone either way.

I am going to enjoy watching the 'blow go through next season with a target on his back. UF better hope they develop a real running game and a better defense if they hope to contend for a conference title, let alone the NC.

20 and 20 should shut the door. I still don't see how Florida wins without Tebow. It's not like some pedestrian is McFadden's backup.

Teams playing Arkansas didn't have to defend the forward pass.

Playing against UF they did.

McFadden is the best player in college football. However, Timmy was impressive and well, deserved it.

fair enough. But Felix is quite good himself. The forward pass would've been coming from Tebow as well. As I said, being the first 20-20 guy should be enough on it's own. what was it, 52 total tds? That's incredible. No way does Florida win without Tebow.

I think Percy Harvin is just as important as Timmy. Look what UF did when Percy was in street clothes.

understandable. It doesn't help mcfadden's case that he was hurt for part of the season. The Tennessee game also really hurts his case.
