I don't know about the "most prestigious award in sports", but I agree with your general sentiment. There's a lot of sour grapes in this thread.

he may not be an intellectual giant, but we still don't admire athletes primarily for their brains as far as I know. He's doing just fine.

I think it should have gone to McFadden, I'm sure many have gone over it before but part of being a QB is leading your team to victory ( like Troy Smith, isn't that what we were told when McFadden was screwed last year too?)...but I guess they change the criteria each year based on who they want to win...I'm pretty sure that kid Newton will have some big numbers when Tebow is gone, but I can pretty much assure everyone here he won't win a Heisman for it even it if he gets 20/20 (am I tired of hearing that).

The writers will give that thing to whoever they want to make the poster boy for college football, the last time I remember anyone "earning" the heisman on talent and performance during the year and not hype at the start of the year and stat padding in blowout games at the end was Barry Sanders.

That kid from UCF the running back should have gotten an invite over Chase from Mizzou too IMO.

Enjoy the trophy gators, I'll take winning the SEC east another year over a heisman and you guys can enjoy being 3rd in the division with a flashy offense and 3-4 losses next year.

Next year, Tebow or not, UT wins in Knoxville and wins the SEC east. UF's defense will not be any good next year either. Georgia? Don't make me laugh---UT owns them.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Florida won by 3 touchdowns. Why won't their defense improve? Everyone thinks we are supposed to improve a lot, but Florida won't be able to? And if people say UT owns Georgia for winning 2 in a row, then they should definitely be quick to acknowledge that UF owns UT.

Totally agree. It was another confirmation that the Heisman has turned into a beauty pagent. It was sickening to see the Chris Fowler lovefest. I was waiting for Chris to lay an open mouthed wet one on Tebow.

You guys do realize Tim Tebow was the first 20-20 player ever and had the highest QB rating of all Heisman Winners? Not to mention over 50 total touchdowns. He is no joke.

No doubt he deserved it. He provides multiple threats on offense at a college level and makes his team dangerous. I think he will change the way for future college QBs.

However, I don't think he will make it in the pros as a QB unless he has awesome WRs. I have seen him throw so many "wounded ducks" underthrown to his WRs that they had to come back and get. His WRs make him look better than he is.

Yeah most of us read the espn clicker too. With you saying the gators are gonna win next year by 3 touchdowns and thinking tebow is the next John Elway maybe you should be rooting for them.

Lou Holtz tried to justify voting for a sophomore by arguing that Adrian Peterson was robbed his sophomore year and got hurt in his Junior year. Of course he left after that but his argument is moot because McFadden was robbed last night after getting the shaft his sophomore year. Throw the #'s out cause both put up stellar numbers. Florida would have won 8 games without Tebow taking shotgun snaps. I garauntee you that Arkansas don't win 8 games without McFadden taking handoffs.

What is your case against Tebow? That he plays for Florida? And thinking some team will win doesn't mean you should be forced to root for them.

There are plenty of reasons to say this is a garbage award, but Tebow winning isn't one of them.
