Time for holly to go!

Looks to me like the brown nosers have joined forces on this forum. Y'all must ride motorcycles with holly on weekends and can only look thru orange colored glasses. If you can't see how poorly the team is coached, then I can't help you. It would be like tring to explain a blonde joke to a blonde.

Here's a question for you. I looked back through your past posts, and you never bothered to mention women's basketball until this thread. Couldn't find a mention of men's basketball either. Why the sudden interest? And the expert evaluation of how "poorly" the team is coached. If you weren't watching in other years, how can you make that evaluation?

I am a tennessee fan in every sport. I have watched every televised game ut lady vols have played as well as every football game since the 70s. Football has drawn the most interest because that's my favorite sport. I post where it's needed. In the past, I have never had to post anything much because pat summit I always thought had everything in control. I have posted about basketball in the past as well. I don't know where you are getting that, maybe it was on other vol sites possibly. But let's use your logic, are you saying your not welcome here unless you have posted before? Well how did you get on here then?

No, I'm saying it's remarkable how many people come out of the woodwork when the team struggles.

The truth of the matter is that this program has been struggling for years--long before PS retired. I love and respect PS, but the game passed her by. PS was great but she was rather clueless about offensive efficiency--and that remains a serious problem: too many turnovers, not enough patience, bad decisions and a team that does not move and pass the ball well enough to beat well-coached teams like ND. McGraw has absolutely been schooling us in recent years. Like geno, she used to be very competitive with us even when she had mediocre talent because she was a great coach; now, she (like geno) has good talent to complement their coaching and they and others are kicking our a$$, and we have to listen to Warlick say that she's happy we played well for a HALF! Yikes.

Holly has a contract through 2017. Hart doesn't care much for women's sports she will have a couple more seasons at least. Right now he is hoping to get the big money maker football straightened out. We can post these get rid of Holly posts all we want she is here for another two years at least.

I concur. Unfortunately, by the time things are changed all the shine might be off the LV Bball program. I just don't understand how a career assistant get's handed the keys to the No.2 (lets be honest UConn is a freakin' machine) program in the country. What happend to earning your stripes and working your way up through the ranks?

I didn't like the fact that we just slid her into the position in the first place. I guess out of favor to Pat, but she is not an elite coach in my opinion. I really think the small time coach at utm is a better X's and O's guy. We either need a guy like that or some big name that will get the base excited. For Pete's sake, holly Warlicks basketball show is called...the lady vols basketball show...and in fine print it also says ...because no one knows who the hell holly is! It was embarrassing to watch our girls effort in second half tonite.

Everytime we lose a men's or women's game, we get these fahr th' coach threads as if that is the solution to all problems. Maybe some need firing, but it is a broken record.

I think what's broken is our athletic department and it's hiring practices. :ermm:

Right now Women's Softball is about the only UT sport that isn't in the tank or headed in that direction. Think about that...

Note: I've got my fingers crossed that baseball & football are on the rise.

I am not one of those band wagon people. I don't have knee jerk reactions as far as firing someone either. I just think that we need some new ideas and fresh approaches with the route we have taken in our recruiting and scheme in women's bball. In the later years of pats reign, I think she tried to switch to a lankier more athletic team to match up with the schemes of uconn. Uconn used back door cuts, screens to open up shooters, etc. the problems that ensued with that philosophy for us was that it appears we don't know how to maximize the talent on offense. One thing that was always present on our championship teams was an unsung big down low. We had tons of put backs and offensive rebounds and mostly one shot and done for the opponents offense. I admit that we still have tons of athletic rebounds but I can't remember the last girl we had that could carve out space and get points down low with regularity. I think holly should go back to that approach or maybe hire an offensive guru that can give opponents fits with the scheme while not having one of those bigs. It's like we have a lot of ferraris in a tractor pull!

I agree. I go to UTM and i said when Pat left TN would be better with Kevin. He has done so much for our university. Holly sucks. If I could hire one guy it would be coach McMillan.

I think Holly is here this year and next so she needs to find five players if she has that many that want to give 100 percent effort for 40 minutes. To much subbing going on starters need to be able to play 35 minutes if not in foul trouble. Get Nia in there she plays with effort and can rebound and make baskets.

Didn't Fulmer just slide into the HC position?
How did that turn out?

I will have to add the men's tennis team (preseason #6) as well as the swimming and diving teams are both very healthy and headed in the right direction.

No he did not just slide in. Majors became ill and missed most of the season. Fulmer lead the team to several big wins in the interim. Their were two camps:stay with majors or go with Fulmer. There was a lot of he said he said going on. Powers that be opted with Fulmer. That's not at all the situation here. Majors still wanted to be a head coach. Coach summit had to retire. Major program opening, no interviews, no selection process, just move your stuff in the hc office. That wouldn't happen at the NAIA level, much less the top program in the nation.

All this talk about just being a freshman is a joke! The last 5 teams have ben a joke. The lady Vols will not make it to the sweet 16.

:whistling: Just how many times are they on TV. Frankly, nobody cares about them. I never see a write up in the paper about those UT teams. I never see them on ESPN's Sports Center saying how great a team sport that is either. Tennis + Diving = :pukeb:. You can add the golf team & the bowling team (if there's one) along w/those two also.

I am 100% in agreement with you there. The track program is rock bottom. The other sports are at best middle of the road. The men's BB is headed for mediocrity (if it isn't already there). I haven't given up on women's BB yet based on the last 2 games, but there is cause for concern.

With the majority of the programs in such poor condition, the only conclusion that can be drawn is the administration and the Board of Trustees have failed the athletics programs at UT. Given time and support, I believe Hart can get it turned around, but I doubt the support is there. There is absolutely NO excuse for these failures at UT with all of the resources and committed fan base to be in this condition. Just firing a couple of coaches won't get it done. The rot at the top must be rooted out. There was a reason Charlie Strong backed out at the last minute. Look it up.

The Vols will make it to the Sweet 16, as that only entails beating a cupcake in the first round and a mediocre team in the second round. However, we will lose to the first good, well-coached team we face, which is a pretty awful thing to say given that we have quite a bit of talent. But our coaching is in the third of four quartiles--meaning not very good.

I've seen several mention on here that Hart doesn't care about the womens programs--largely based on his tenure at Florida State.

Clearly the man could learn a thing or two about employee relations, etc. He's made more than a few enemies at FSU, Bama, and UT. However, many fail to give him credit on the other hand for the success of the womens programs at FSU in the ACC. Across the board FSU has been first or second (only to UNC) in the all around female sports point competition in the ACC going back to the mid-2000's. I don't think that happened in a vacuum.

"Hart doesn't care much for women's sports"

that part of your post scares me Volfan

only time will tell though

If hart truley doesn't care about the lady Vols, he can seriously GTFO!!!!!!!! Our Lady Vols BB team, and softball team have proud traditions. If he puts them on the back burner, he is trash.
