Time For Pearl To Go.

Belmont game is the icing on the cake. Beat a Belmont team who could not throw one in the ocean by 1 point. You play you're son down the stretch instead of Maymon who is a better defensive player/rebounder. You run ZERO, and i repeat, ZERO plays for our best player Tobias Harris. All i can say is we're lucky Belmont decided not to play defense the last possession. We have all the talent in the world, but with this coaching we will not make the tournament.

2 things, 1 Jozy Altidore sucked during the world cup and 2 are you really talking about firing pearl? Im sure you though the same thing last year about this time aswell.

Present me with reasonable facts why Bruce Pearl should keep his job after the distractions he's brought upon the team and his awful subsitutions/late game playcalling (or complete lack thereof).

Bruce Pearl should keep his job after this b/c he is FACTUALLY the most successful coach in UT history. He has us on the national radar as a BB team and as destination for blue chip talent. He has a loaded team now (by UT stds) and this slump will eventually come to an end.
Quit being knee-jerk reactionary and stop wringing your hands every time we get adversity. Our time of adversity now are better than most years since I've been a fan.
Grow up and stop acting like the sky is falling. That which does not kill you only serves to make you stronger.

if you think that belmont is a scrub team then that tells me all i need to know about your bball knowledge

Thank you!! Remember they nearly beat us in the first round of the NIT we won, down by 1 with 36 tics. Rick Byrd has won 588 freaking games. Played Vandy close in memorial this year. Their only losses are to the Vols twice and Vandy once!! That was a good win, especially since it came down to a final shot. Those are the ones we were losing. Three games ago "world beaters",now fire the best coach we've ever had? :bash:

We're not going back to the nether regions of college basketball, if that's what you're saying. If CBP goes, we most likely hire another great coach. Because of the strides our program has made under Pearl.

Disagree. Most coaches are worried they will be 3rd fiddle in the AD, though we have improved the facilities the last 5 years. I haven't seen many great coaches come to UT in the last 20-25 years. Even Pearl wasn't "great" until he did what he did at UT.

Insanity must be contagious. Bad two weeks and people forget what happened last March or even how the first seven games of this season went. Get a damn grip. Some people around here have the emotional control of a twelve year old girl.

Agreed...Bruce knows whats coming and its not good. Suspended at least one maybe two years...do you keep him or move on?

You apparently know nothing about Tennessee sports.

Be better if some fans would go instead of Pearl.

Just 25 years of what I've watched.

Just 25 years of Tennessee having terrible facilities and not paying for good coaches. That time is gone. The SEC in general is realizing how dumb it is to ignore basketball and Tennessee is out in front.

If you think Tennessee basketball is third fiddle you know nothing.

Yes, his recruiting is so great that it cost him 8 SEC games! You can recruit all the talent you want, but without good coaching that's all it will ever be. Talent. No execution, no half court sets, awful substituions, the list goes on.

Since you're still wringing your hands like a teen girl whose imaginary boyfriend got message on FB from a prettier girl, let's get a little something straight.
Recruiting IS coaching in the NCAA. It's not separate. CBP will succeed with teaching, planning, game coaching, politicking, and staying within the rules, among others. Champions are just that,it's not broken into segmented categories such as coaching and recruiting.

Are you older than 13? If so, please don't answer.

How many AA's did Duke have?

Yeah, the point is there is not a positive correlation of exactly 1 when it comes to high school success and college success. I'm arguing that high school success doesn't necessarily translate to the college game. Therefore, your point is meaningless.

Duke's players were good in high school and are good in college. Seems to me like there is a correlation.

I know some of you guys weren't Pearl fans even before the 3-game skid - so duly noted. But I have to say it's pretty amusing reading the forums 2 weeks ago and reading now - Pearl was the second coming of John Wooden (despite the impending NCAA hammer), then he's lost his mind, is total dogmeat, and needs to be fired. Pretty juvenile.

Personally I hope we do well, as in making it past the first two rounds of the NCAA, but I'm not optimistic. I don't see how people can't take off the orange-tinted glasses and see that we're just not that good, even if we occasionally pull off the big win. I've never bought into the Hopson hype, he couldn't possibly be more erratic. Really don't care that he occasionally makes a highlight reel play, his defense is crap (e.g., the backdoor on him late in the game), and the notion that he's NBA material at this point is just laughable. We simply do not have a solid big guy. Unbelieveable that Pearl and McBee are even on the roster - don't care if they occasionally contribute in a positive way (even I would make a 3, draw a charge, or get rebound every once in a blue moon) - not even close to D1 players. Yeah, I don't get the rotation sometimes either - but if CBP gets us back into the sweet 16, he deserves major kudos. And records don't lie, he's somehow managed it the past few years.

Oooh. Now that's a legit Q. Will be interesting to see what's handed down.
This action by UT & SEC to pr-punish in order avoid worse by NCAA scares me. I once had an architect who purposely made mistakes to a project b/c the DOT ALWAYS red lines every plan. This is to show they are doing their job. Sure enough they red lined his little mistakes and we avoided large $$$ possible demands as planned.

Will the NCAA see the punishments as ''enough'' or just as a starting point for even more?

I fear the latter b/c they will look weak w/o their own action. Look at the recent OSU & AU judgments show that this group is not based on principle, but politics.

You guys are idiots I swear. Belmont is 3rd in the nation with 43 ppg...off the bench! They also are one of the best 3 point shooting teams in the country. Bruce even said this is one of the few teams he hates playing. By the way, McRae took Pearl's spot and did good

Who in the world has Belmont played of note besides Vandy and UT? No one.
