Titans Owner Bud Adams wants Peyton Manning

Lol @ the posters saying that it would hurt Locker. Yeah that really hurt Aaron Rodgers backing up Brett Favre. So how would getting one of if not the best quarterbacks of all time to mentor Locker "hurt" him?

not sure the comparison really works. Favre said it wasn't his job to mentor his understudies

well true, but i mean to watch. learn the difference from collegiate to professional

He has that now in Hass. They already have a good relationship and Hass knows his role. Plus the fact people act like Hass is trash, he was once a good QB and a good source of information for Locker to use.

Peyton Manning at age 36 is likely better than Locker will ever be in his career. You try to get him if he were to listen.

maybe so but there are other considerations that must be addressed. Can the Titans afford him and bring in the necessary DLineman they need?

Fact is he would give the Titans a chance to win now.

The two most important things about that statement

Chance - maybe win, maybe not. Lot of money for a "chance".

Now - sure now but the problem is that owners/teams look at the big picture, not the 'now' picture. How will it effect us in the long run as well as short. Will we have to blow up the team sooner due to cap problems. Those come into play because that's the way a business operates.

This would be the smartest business move the Titans have ever made. Look the state of TN sells just as much colts gear as Titans. If they get Peyton they will increase their fan base long term there for increase revenue long term. Smart move if you ask me. Pay the man more than any other team because it will double their fan base.

It's probably close in East TN, but in Middle TN Titans gear is going to outsell everything by leaps and bounds. I do agree with your larger point that it would be a great PR move.

According to the espn reporters, PM is interested in denver and arizona because he either knows or is friends with key people in their organization---knows and respects elway and fox, and is apparently friends with the cardinal coach. Seems an odd criteria to me: it's nice to be comfortable--but if he wants to win, as we know he does, go to a team with talent. He will make a decision this week, I think.

Really? So you're ready just to give up on the guy we just drafted #8 last year? He looked great in his limited playing time this past season. I like where our future is.

i say the titans keep locker let payton manning come in and groom him and get rid of hassleback

The JortieNation website is aghast at this turn of events

And here. We. Go...

@michaelombardi: NFL sources tell me that the Titans are preparing for a Peyton Manning visit in the next day or two

Eh, he's doing this so other teams will pay more. Hope I'm wrong, but we'll see.

I think there are as many reasons for him to be attracted to Tennessee as the other teams he's pursuing. Arguably, the Titans have a stronger overall WR corps than Denver and Arizona (although Fitz is a HOFer), the OL is one of the best pass-blocking OLs in the league, and the RB has been great (although coming off his worst year).

There's a lot to like about Tennessee's offense. Britt is a star in the making. Nate is coming off a 1000 yard season where he was a warrior. Damian Williams and Lavelle Hawkins are coming off their best years. Roos is an elite LT, Stewart an elite RT. Interior needs some work but it can be fixed. CJ won't face 8 in the box anymore.

A lot to like for Peyton.

Look, I know all the reasons, you guys aren't telling me anything new. Just a gut feeling I have. If the Titans are the best fit for him (and pay enough) he'll come, but not for any of the sentimental reasons people are saying.

Like I said, I truly hope I'm wrong, it's just a feeling I have. If I'm wrong I'll gladly eat crow.

Look - lets be real here the Titans are not and NEVER will have the success the Steelers, packers, patriots, 49ers, etc have. Just not going to happen.

So when an opportunity like this comes a long you screw say screw it and try to win big now. Titans may never win a Super Bowl while here in Tennessee. You take this opportunity If you can sell it.

Peyton makes up for having an average defense.

The premise is ridiculous. The Steelers were one of the worst organizations in pro sports before the 70s. The Packers were god awful from 67-93. The 49ers have just recently come out of a prolonged dry spell. The Patriots were a huge joke pre Brady.

There's no reason any NFL franchise can't go on a run with the right combination of luck and skill.

Look who the Titans owner is and try to tell me that again with a straight face.

And you're quoting teams being bad over 30 and 40 years ago, lol. The NFL is still young.

We have a good, strong and well respected front office.

We have a good and well respected coaching staff.

We have a great bookend set of tackles. Some free agents will shore up the OL.

We have a good RB and potentially solid ground game to take pressure off of Manning.

We have a decent array of WRs and TEs to utilize in the pass game.

Our defenses is not great, but it is not bad either. We are a couple of players away from being more than good enough to win championships on defense.

Manning's wife's family lives in Nashville area.

Manning has a lot of friends in this area.

Manning is adored by fans in this area.

Does he want to poke Irsay in the eye? What better place than to do it here.

Now we are learning that the Titans are going t pursue Mario Williams very hard. The Titans are not far from being a pretty darn good team. Add those two into the mix and they improve on both sides of the ball an awful lot.

The Titans have a offense that fits Peyton. Don['t know if they can outbid Denver or Arizona for him. You would have to like Tennessee's offense over either Denver or Arizona. Offensive line that can protect him i promise is a thought on Peyton's mind. He would have that here and a lot weapons around him. It could be a scary good offense. As we saw this year, that's all you really need is a good offense.
