'26 TN ATH Shavar Young (Clemson Commit)

Maybe his parents didn’t think that grown azz men would get their feelings hurt over how a kid decides to announce where he’ll play football so it wasn’t a big deal. Bc it’s not. At all.
You're taking criticisms and running with them to an extreme. I have repeatedly said that it's not a big deal, and that it's not a reflection of either his character or of his upbringing. So have most other posters to this thread.

However, there is nothing wrong with being critical of someone over their actions, when they were responsible for making those actions available for public consumption. It doesn't mean that anyone's feelings are hurt. The reality is that when you post something to the internet and place your actions in the public realm for all to see, those actions will often be judged, regardless of how old you are. If that's not something you want to happen? Don't post videos of yourself on the internet.

That's been covered a lot ....

Regardless of which school is chosen, it is strange for a prospect to be publicly expressing anger/bitterness/ridicule towards people who are offering them a scholarship, money and taking an interest in helping them achieve their future career goals.

There have been times when athletes have done this while choosing Tennessee (I remember Vincent Yarbrough in basketball from way back in the day .... while announcing for Tennessee over Kentucky). It makes me cringe, regardless of whether they are picking Tennessee or someone else.

It's not a big deal; nor is it a poor reflection of anyone's character or upbringing, but it is a strange way to act towards people who have taken the time to recruit you.
we can keep our eyes on the level of effort by our staff to maintain communication with him and his camp till signing day as COMPARED to other targets selecting other colors. That will answer the how impactive his act is IN THIS INSTANCE. Did it alter his FIT calculation for OUR staff? That may be all that is on the table.

Defending this kid is the problem. “He’s only 16” is no excuse. I’m sure his parents were aware he was doing this. So what if you got your feelings hurt. You don’t clown a staff that took the time and money to recruit you. It’s immaturity at its finest by him and the parents. What happens when he doesn’t get what he wants later?

Y’all are unhinged. Thank goodness no one cared what you were doing at 16, so a forum full of supposedly grown men couldn’t go after your or your parents’ character over a meaningless little stunt.

He put a shirt on then removed it, I heard no one in the room disparage UT in any way. Would I encourage my kid to do it? No. But I’d also tell him not to worry about offending the Charmin double-ply soft contingent of Vol fans who would actually take this personally. Because they find insults under every rock no matter what.

defending a kid from taking a shirt off?

Did he make a big show of stepping on it afterwards? Maybe singing a few lines of "Eff TN" we definitely would never have a player who ever did that, right? maybe he spent a couple minutes bad mouthing our coaches, school, or state?

maybe some of us just have a much higher threshold of what actually counts as "clowning" and "disrespect".

Who did he disrespect? The hat he took off? The t-shirt?

Do you really think our staff was watching his commitment and thought he was committed to Vols 😂
Just as irritating on the replay and when it is pointed out to the staff. Maybe Vol fans should attend his games and boo him and then say just kidding at the end of the game. His family would not take that serious would they?

The staff does not care about these silly things lol. And who cares if you boo someone? But are you comparing someone’s relationship and feelings with their own son to a fan’s feelings about their favorite team?

I’m not a thug and I don’t find any of this commentary interesting nor informative. I’m really surprised Freak hasn’t shut it down already. Why do any of you guys care about his commitment video to a school other than UT? You all need to move on and return your discussions to UT recruits. JMO, TIFWIW, AARP.
Nobody knows where he is going to commit until he does it so people watched it because he lives in Tennessee, was recruited by UT and had UT has a finalist. As far as your comment about people needing to "move on"...why are you here commenting on posts if that is the case?

I was disappointed in his actions, and would be equally disappointed if the fans booed him. Makes them both suspect for the culture our AD and staff are trying to establish, starting with DW’s presser.

What staff member told you they were were collectively unaffected by his ploy? Bet it is a factor, make or break, I don’t know.

Take that…..NANNY NANNY BOO BOO! Sheesh!

Are you sure the Staff didn’t even slightly take offense to that video?

Certainly they wouldn’t comment but I bet they weren’t happy with the way the kid handled it..

I bet they haven’t even seen it. They already knew he wasn’t committing to UT.

Should clarify I’m sure some low level staffer has seen it. But willing to bet that nobody all that important has seen it nor do they have time to watch videos of kids committing to other schools.

They 1 million percent don’t care. Nobody on the staff is that insecure.

Have to see that in writing.,, if they will punk you now they will punk you later.,, you don’t have to be an Eagle Scout, but CJH seems to draw a line in the character sand.

For actual character concerns he has. This is no way qualifies for anyone living in reality.

Staff will satisfy this argument with level of staff initiated contact until signing day. A boatload of polite indifference for a guy previously high on the board will indicate this was a factor.

Will see if we get any not giving up reports by our local insiders to support your read. Existence or lack of direct contact will be facts, our opinions not so much. Should be an easy read due to proximity.

Dialog 🤣🤣🤣

Imagine cosplaying the smart guy and saying that.

Back to Shavar Young, as the Insider said GOOD KID and the other insider said he’s been here a ton. The staff would take his commitment all day and there’s a ton of time left in this recruitment. Recruiting is not for those vulnerable to hurt feelings from teenage chicanery.

Then show the evidence of staff initiated contact with him moving forward. Heck several probably drive by his school on the way to work or dropping off their kids at Webb or CAK. Heck maybe even Catholic.

Will see if he gets added to the thread listing guys we are still working after commitments elsewhere. That info does get out.

Edited to add I.e. Ericvols thread.
