I respect his family, and his Dad's accomplishments. But man, they're weird
Don't know them personally, but dad won't have any say once he's on a college campus. He can affect his kid's mindset, but he'll be doing him a disservice if that is done negatively. If he can possibly help this team and the kid himself isn't a locker room cancer, then bring him on.

his dad does interject, routinely. and is very confrontational.

Okay but hear me out …. Maybe the staff knows what they’re doing here.

I mean, idk. I get his dad one killed a guy with a trident and didn’t rewind the VHS one time before returning to blockbuster, but still. Let’s give the kid and this staff a chance here.

Maybe I’m confused on this, but UT practices are closed, only allowing the media in for the first 15 minutes or so. How is it possible for a parent or handler to gain access to the practices or the coaches in order to cause trouble? Guess dad could complain to the son or maybe media? I’m just not seeing the opportunity for dad to be a problem?

His Dad, who played football locally at ETSU then for pros - for almost a decade. Who is still very very active in local HS's, would almost assuredly have connections via VFL's and coaches to gain access to practice.

Either way, hearing what you're saying. How far does the apple fall from the tree? If HE is as immature, controlling, and ostentatious as Dad, and Ma. Then, may not be a good fit. Does Dad let him be his own man?

Bottom line we are a point where projects and 'coach em ups' have to pay dividends. Coaches really need to offer more guys, outside of their comfort zones. And land more players for depth.

Sounds like he is from the dust up at Dobyns Bennett.

The boy got suspended from the team for fighting or something along those lines.
Boy quit team, took all the jerseys and kept them.
Dad got mad that they sent him a bill for replacing jerseys. (Which is required by law)
Dad came and made a huge scene, forced his way into the field house.
Took jersey down that was on the wall. Said he would never be back.
Said they would never win a state title in basketball.
They won it that year.
Kid/dad complains that the coaches was against him at DB
Kid/dad complains coaches wasn't good enough at Knox Cath
Kid complains... Dad complains....
Dad actively tries to get coaches fired that don't bow down to him at every level.
Dad also didn't get 10 years in at the NFL because he said if he isn't a starter he isn't playing.
Something doesn't sound good to me.

there are other incidents as well. through the years. but basically, that's the gist.

This is a really questionable decision here
True but Cai Bates just decommitted from LSU right after his unofficial visit to FSU. So looks like the writing is on the wall for him going to FSU. So I guess this guy maybe the best we can get at this point.

How so? I've followed him kinda close as a Cowboys fan and also live in the same area. He has a big cowboys themed boat he likes to take on the lake. Anyway I've never heard anyone say a bad thing about him...
You obviously haven't read this thread. Multiple people from Kingsport and the Tri-Cities have said to stay away from him. He is originally from Kingsport.
