'24 TN OT Jesse Perry (Tennessee)

6'7 might be too big for center lol

Right? That was my first thought. But according to RC on the 247 pod, that is what Ellarbe told Perry. And if you’re questioning that then you’re questioning Ellarbe and Heupel. And idk if you know this but they led us to an 11 win season and can’t be questioned. Are you a P5 coach? Haha I don’t think so.

Tread lightly, AVR. The cheerleaders are watching. Tread lightly.

You’re trying way too hard to prove a point and it’s not working.

What? And just when you almost had me convinced that Heupel and Ellerbe have no idea what they're doing and your fixation on recruiting "stars" was the gold standard by which football recruits should be measured at all times and places.

I wish we had a deeper blue.

I wasn’t trying to convince you of anything. I’ve never stated the above nor do I believe stars are the end all be all. But I get your need to exaggerate for dramatics.

The thing about underweight prospect players is it requires a lot of work before they are ready to play. The culture under Butch was awful. Currently Heupel has a great culture and people are putting in the work in the off-season. We have also recruited a couple kids who might lack some of the top end physical skills but have insane work ethic. Hopefully that keeps the culture going and some of these 6'7" 270lbs tackles are able to put on 30 or 40 lbs and get to where they need to be to succeed.

This kid has two and a half years before he’d ever be asked to probably be a backup. I would hope gaining that kind of weight is extremely doable.

His culture was the problem.

That method of getting athletic but underweight talent was NOT a problem.
People need to learn to separate good from the bad, and stop generalizing...

I disagree. Lineman were hurt because their knees and shoulders couldn’t handle the size we needed them at. That could’ve been S&C too, but we produced zero NFL lineman after Dooleys guys moved on. It was disgraceful that Brett Kendrick played with a concussion because we had no other OL vs Kentucky in 2017.

Didn't they go their last year without a strength coach and people said the players essentially did nothing as a team in the off-season? It wasn't just the lineman that was the problem with that team.

Idk if the sites just updated their pages since he committed but I could’ve sworn his page said he was 260 which combined with his meh offers lent to a lot of my consternation today. Being 275 going into his senior year makes a huge difference. Plus the whiskey. Plus I like the idea of him maybe being a center.

I just want elite tackles. Im so tired of project QBs and tackles and corners. Three of the most important positions in football and we’ve taken so many projects and hoped theyd pan out.

Nico is a project. There was 1 player rated higher in the country I think. Should have gotten him.

No. Rock Gullickson was there in 2017. Replaced Szerszen from the previous year. The signing their name and leaving thing reportedly went on under Szerszen…doubt it happened around Gullickson (old guard type), but he didn’t accomplish much body transformation on his watch either…cept breast augmentation.

That sign in and Leave crap went on under PF’s regime at the very end. Ramon Foster said no one was taking workouts serious, and it showed on the field. Can’t recall the strength coach then, perhaps Johnny Long (Billy Beron’s uncle)?

Makes sense. There was a sense of lack of accountability vs the high school rankings in your referenced years. A brief uptick when Cut returned (he was always a fundamentals stickler) then backwards again.

The thing I like about this guy is from what everyone says he is an attitude of no one is going to put work him!

That’s an attribute that can’t be taught..
It's pretty obvious in his highlights to see that. He plays like he has kids to feed !

Yes. Butch had an as much turnover at the end as Dooley did.

Name the project QBs and corners we have had since Heupel.
