'18 TN RB Jeremy Banks (UT signee)

You really don’t think Memphis would have beaten us this year? We almost lost to UMASS and USM.

I mean when Butch is your HC, you can get beat by pretty much anybody.

I do feel like Pruitt will be different and win the games he’s supposed to win. Maybe even pull off a few upsets.

Really wish that matchup would happen so I can take money from people like you.

Are you waiting for Auburn to get blown out by UCF’s “speed” too?

Lol. You would’ve taken a freaking bath if you bet anybody that Tennessee would’ve beaten Memphis this year.

Memphis would’ve hung 50 on us this year, no doubt about that. Could our bad offense have scored 20-24 points on them? Unlikely.

Look, are we a far better overall program with a much higher upside? Absolutely. Better tradition, facilities, opportunties to play at a much higher level than Tiger High.

But to actually sit there and try to make a case that this year’s Memphis team, a top 20 team, wouldn’t have rolled the worst Tennessee team in school history? It’s heyond foolish.

When was Memphis' last national championship?

What does this even mean? How is it remotely relevant?

Tennessee’s national title in 1998 and 1951 wouldn’t have meant a damn thing had our 2017 team, the worst team in program history, played a very good, top 20 Memphis team this season.

Yes. Yes I would. If TN wouldve won 6 we would be playing in the equivalent of a liberty bowl. Memphis is havinig its best run and guess what....? Do you believe they have better athletes? Norvell is simply a better coach than Butch. Now that we've (probably) surpassed our incompetence we should see a much better product.

Edit: crazy Ivan'd

Here’s what I know.

We were dominated by a .500 GaTech team and were incredibly fortunate to win

We lost to a bad Florida team

We barely beat an awful UMass team which physically beat us up

We were never remotely competitive with Georgia or Alabama....it was men vs boys

We lost to Kentucky for the second time in 3+ decades

We were dominated by both Missouri and Vanderbilt

We went nearly 3 full games without scoring a touchdown

Our defense was historically awful and couldn’t stop anybody at any point in time this year. Teams ran roughshod over us

This ain’t hard Tim. Are we traditionally and currently a much better program with tons more to offer than Tiger High? Absolutely. But had we actually played Memphis this year, with their offense, they would’ve joined the long list of teams that completely embarrassed us this year. My guess is the score would’ve been in the 51-23 range.

Beaten? Hard to say, the man is obviously trolling hard and giving a 30 point spread though.

The only reason it’s debatable is the issues we all hope Pruitt can fix.

Edit: Hopefully the visit goes well. Sadly I’m afraid we’ll hear very little until tomorrow night :(

Hilarious considering Memphis is a Top-20 team and TN is a decade loser.

Tennessee Last Decade ('07-'17)
10,5,7,6,5,5,5,7,9,9,4
72 Wins

Memphis Last Decade ('07-'17)
7,6,2,1,2,4,3,10,9,8,10
61 Wins

Good call bro. Plus, I mean, playing in the "American" is equivalent to playing in the SEC. For both exposure, development, and winning. Next.

Sunseri's defense looked better than what we fielded this year..

Think about that..

Not to long though, could make you puke...

Dude, you’re the one saying you’d take our pathetic 4-8 team, the worst in program history, over 10-win, top 20 Memphis who has the #4 offense in the country.

It would’ve been a horrible matchup for our team......we couldn’t stop anybody this year and we went nearly 3 full games without scoring a touchdown.

So yeah, I could easily see a 50-20 type game had we played Memphis, a team that was on a roll and highly motivated to beat the ish out of a down-trodden, injured, and just generally bad “big brother” Tennessee team that had quit on its coach. A 4-7 Vanderbilt team with a bad offense hung 42 on us....how many do you think Memphis with Riley Ferguson and Anthony Miller would’ve scored? Scratch that last question, you’re clearly not the right guy to ask.

Call it trolling if you want....anybody with any clue would call it common sense.

Can't be proven either way, so can we drop it?

Living in Memphis I hear this debate all the time. Banks doesn’t have a logical reason to pick Memphis over Tenn. If he wants better exposure and a chance to play early he goes to Tenn. Memphis will forever be a stepping stone job for coaches now. I hope Tenn does more recruiting in Memphis there’s a ton of talent here.

That entire conference is a stepping stone. UCF went undefeated and couldn't sniff CFP. So it's a conference that winning out only matters for the coach hunting his big power 5 job

Yep. We now know the absolute ceiling of the conference.
