The majority of top prospects in this day and age commit to a coach instead of a school. That's just what recruiting has become in this day and age. As for Azzani, I wasn't much of a fan of his either, but I also expect the Beard experiment to probably be a one and done thing as well.
Ok, he's gone, get over it. Maybe if your good enough in college, you'll be drafted by the Bears and could play for him there. If he's still the WR coach for them in 5-6 years.
You never commit to a coach, you commit to a school. It's not the University of Azzani.

Unfortunately you're wrong about who kids commit to. In today's recruiting kids almost always commit to the guy they have the best relationship with. I was never a Z fan but I must admit he did his fair share recruiting guys in his position group. As for the Jennings Qb situation he was never going to play qb at UT. That was all a part of appeasing the kid to get him to UT. He always knew he wouldn't be a college qb unless it was on the fcs level. As for Byrd he is probably better suited to be a Db but they're leaving him at Wr because he's a phenomenal athlete. I for one would never take a commitment from a Hs freshman because a lot happens in 3 years. In today's society every kid with talent doesn't need offers or to make a commitment as a freshman. Why you ask because mentally it could kill the kids development and work ethic because they let success go to their heads toooooooo fast. We monitor this a lot at NPA and try to keep our guys grounded and hungry, but hey we're just one of many who make kids go feed the homeless and do other community service projects.

Just spoke to Kendrell Scurry. He said today reminded him while he fell in love with Tennessee to begin with. He got to spend a lot of one-on-one time with Kevin Beard and Butch Jones. He also was very honest with Jones and the Tennessee staff about why he decommitted and that being because he didn't feel like he was being recruited very hard by Tennessee.
"It was really fun," Scurry said. "It was great. It was awesome and I loved it. It made me fall in love again. Every time I go, I fall in love all over again." The Thompson Station native made the trip over from middle Tennessee with his 7 on 7 team, but wasn't accompanied by teammate and soft Tennessee commitment T.J. Sheffield.
Scurry was extremely close with former Vol wide receivers coach Zach Azzanni and that led to him pulling back on things. That made Saturday all about putting himself around Beard, Larry Scott, Welt Wells and Butch Jones. "Honestly, I wanted to see how it was without coach Azzanni being there," Scurry said. "It was the second time I've been around coach Beard and I wanted to sit down with him and look him straight int he eye and see what the plan was.
"When we got there, my mom and I got to spend a good 30-45 minutes talking to him and getting to know him. He told me that we have to build our relationship. The way he was talking to me, I could tell he's a guy I can trust and follow after."
"I just told him I didn't feel like I was being recruited," Scurry said. "They can't call me over the phone because I'm not a junior yet and I respect that. Coach Azzanni, if I called him, he would make sure everything was alright. He was gone and he was the only coach I was close too. I didn't have any connection to anyone."
Tennessee has also put veteran recruiter, Walt Wells on Scurry in recent weeks and the two have started to build a bond like Scurry is with Beard. "He's a cool guy," Scurry said. "He relates well. He's a very funny guy to be around. I really like him and he's really growing on me a lot."
Scurry is planning on returning to Knoxville next weekend for orange carpet day.
