jmo... but I would gladly be willing to accept a few more LW's, SCTiger's, and TW's in exchange for some of our own fans that post on VN. It wouldn't be appropriate to mention any names, but if you think you might fall into that category then you probably do.

Respectful rival fans are, indeed, welcome. Many rival fans, however, go well beyond the bounds of cyber-etiquette. Of course, there are a lot of Big Orange fans on here who drastically exceed those same bounds in dialogue with fellow Vol fans. As an anthropologist, I have long said, only half in jest, that SEC football is the last bastion of legalized intertribal warfare in the country. (For those who are overly sensitive on such matters, yes, that statement is intended to be metaphorical.) Obviously, that kind of passion brings out the best and worst in fans.

Oh, and to answer your other question, I briefly posted on Florida and FSU websites when I was conducting research for a book on Tennessee football, specifically with respect to their perspectives on factors which contributed to the state of Florida becoming such a hotbed of college football.

I read a lot more idiotic posts from our own fans than I do rival fans. Just saying.

As a matter of statistical frequency, that is to be expected, considering that Tennessee fans, and those who claim to be Tennessee fans but are of questionable allegiance, significantly outnumber rival fans on this site.

I came to Volnation to read the Recruiting form.

Then Nate Peterman came to UT. I know Nate and his family and I was the School Resource officer at Bartram Trail, Nate's high school, so I saw all of his games his Jr and Sr year. I've retired from the Sheriff's Office now, so I hope some day to come up and see him play for ya'll.

I posted game results after every game and got to know the folks in the Recruiting forum. I don't cause problems and just enjoy talking football.

I'll probably hang out here until Nate graduates, just keeping up with what's going on with him.

I pull for you folks unless you are playing the Gators. :)

There is no need to come here to check our recruiting forum anymore...We don't recruit the same kind of players that Florida does anymore..Florida goes after elite players...We take whatever Vandy doesn't want.lol

Thanks Dep...nice story bro. I agree with all you said except that last sentence & you will have problems on here with that being said. :hi: I hate the gators & the college. The gators suck but welcome aboard anyway.....I guess? :)

I have clicked on a couple of links to other school fansites if the link was posted here on VN.

When I got on there, I couldn't really navigate or follow the threads.

I've only tried it 2-3 times and don't remember which teams, but if VN were like that, I wouldn't be on it.

A lot of other SEC states still haven't figured out that danged ol' internet thing..so when your fan pages are hosted on geocities..you're going to look elsewhere.
