To non-UT fans on this site

This is a legitimate question I have, so I'd appreciate a non-troll answer (unless you'd like to prove why you're really here, to troll). Why the hell are you guys on VOLNATION? I'm fairly new and I've seen multiple Vandy fans, Dawg fans, Gator fans, etc. And I don't mean that in a "Support the vols or GIIIT OUT" kinda way - by all means this is a free country and I welcome intelligent debate, however rare it is sometimes on VN lol.

Why would you actively participate on a UT forum?

And my next question - All VFL members, are any of you also members on Gator nation, or whatever site our SEC competitors have?

Guess you're one of those what don't want no strangers outside the family comin' to no reunions and messin' up the gene pool.

I enjoy opinions of other fans as long as they aren't going out of their way to be jackasses. You figure them out pretty quick. It's always good to get another perspective. I do think there wouldn't be as many rival fans if we were say in the mid to late 90's when UT was pretty damn good. There would still be Fla fans, but I doubt there would be many others. Most people tend to stick to their own board when their team sucks balls. It is funny to watch the Candy fans show up and act like they're a football school now and ditch their dumpster fire hoops team after their one win in a blue moon this year.

If VN was a crappy site and not user friendly, and say, a UF board had a layout just like VN. I would not go post on the UF board for that or any other reason. I also believe if we owned Florida like they have us, they're fans wouldn't be here as much...did we have as many Bubba fans back when we whipped them every year as we do know? Bet not, rival fans that constantly post here do so because they know there own fans lack conversation skills among other thing. IMO

That timeframe pre-dates the Internet by about six decades, but your point is somewhat valid, if not slightly flawed.

I signed up for VN not too long after Kiffin was hired, and the exchanges were quite lively to say the least.

I enjoy the fans of other schools being on VolNation and sharing input. IMO, 90% of them are legit. Sure we banter back and forth but it's all a game. I enjoy spending time on TigerDroppings and Cockytalk. I try to be respectful but still support the Vols. I'm a fan of the game and understand what these kids put themselves through to provide us the entertainment. To troll and be an azz on a website pretty much determines how one is in life. If one is mindful and respects the other team and fans, you will be treated as such. What every one needs to remember is that without Florida - Ga- 'bama - UT - the SEC would not be the same powerhouse conference it is.

In the spirit of the Op's post my response is:

I'm a Vols fan. From time to time I visit rival sites, SEC and otherwise. However, I usually just browse what they're saying about an upcoming game with us. In the rare times I post, it is due to reading some stupid, I mean infinitely STUPID low class post by a Vols fan there. I make one, and rarely two posts to assure them most Vols fans would never advocate that person's words or conduct. A bit of ambassadorship if you will.

But usually, I just browse and don't post. I make 1 or 2 visits and then I'm gone until we have another game with them. Win or lose, I never go back to the site unless (as did happen with Montana) I'm asked to return and give my take on the game or opinion of their team or a player they have. You won't ever see me hanging around on their sites as regular lurker or troll. Horse manure smells pretty much the same on any site so why expose myself to more of it?

The Grizzlies had some great fans show up on VolNation, they were and are proud of their team. For the most part they were very respectful and were excited to play a game in Neyland. Sometimes we forget just how special our program is. We may not have won a lot in the past few years but our tradition and pride rings worldwide.

That would not be true anymore and your post is a perfect example of why not.

why dont we use the davy crockett logo more (your avatar)? i like it better than the power t in many situations. maybe we are hiding it so texas doesnt claim that too?

Part of it has to do with the fact that VN is head and shoulders above a lot of other teams fan sites in terms of sheer number of people. A fan of another SEC team can go into the Around the NCAA forum and have possibly have more UT fans to converse with about their team than they could on their own site. It's pretty impressive when one of the alternative forums on this site gets as much or more traffic than many SEC schools main boards.

As a UT fan, i do my share of looking at other fanbases websites. I simply like to hear other opinions and point of views. I really like to hear them talk about UT in a historical context. Usually we are still regarded as a top 10 to 15 all-time program. That's nice to hear from fanbases that could care less about UT football.

We may not have the best football team in the world. Or country. Or SEC. Or In the state of Tennessee this year. But by God Freak has us the best forum on the internet and I love him for it! GBO!

This is the only site I post on like this, but I think that the diversity of other fans makes it easier for us to stay put.

I typically agree with several of the gators. Makes me sick to admit it...

Even some of the Bama honks are pretty cool.

Isn't there a UCLA guy, too?

I enjoy the different views. I always welcome fun debate with them about how UT is better than their school, even when we're down. :)

Go Vols.
