To non-UT fans on this site

This is a legitimate question I have, so I'd appreciate a non-troll answer (unless you'd like to prove why you're really here, to troll). Why the hell are you guys on VOLNATION? I'm fairly new and I've seen multiple Vandy fans, Dawg fans, Gator fans, etc. And I don't mean that in a "Support the vols or GIIIT OUT" kinda way - by all means this is a free country and I welcome intelligent debate, however rare it is sometimes on VN lol.

Why would you actively participate on a UT forum?

And my next question - All VFL members, are any of you also members on Gator nation, or whatever site our SEC competitors have?

i'm a member of Hogville

Part of it has to do with the fact that VN is head and shoulders above a lot of other teams fan sites in terms of sheer number of people. A fan of another SEC team can go into the Around the NCAA forum and have possibly have more UT fans to converse with about their team than they could on their own site. It's pretty impressive when one of the alternative forums on this site gets as much or more traffic than many SEC schools main boards.

I read a lot more idiotic posts from our own fans than I do rival fans. Just saying.

Well there is more Vol fans on VOL nation so there is more of a chance for UT fans to say idiotic comments, 95% of this board is ut fans.. just saying.

i came here years ago because a guy i worked with is a big UT fan and he introduced me to the board. i started playing xbox with a lot of guys that frequented this board and posted mainly in the gaming forums with them for the longest time and got aquainted with a few more regulars on this site. over time i started to post more in other forums that i had interest in, NHL threads, Formula 1 threads and some others.

because of the friends and the board i started to pay more attention to UT football. i generally stay away from the UT sports forums because i don't know as much as most of you guys about the ins and outs of the programs but i've followed them probably more than any other team outside of UM. i have frequented more often lately the recruiting threads, mainly of derrick green because of both teams being in the fight for him.

as a general rule i try not to be disrespectful and try to refrain from "trolling" as i try to get input from the fans on this site as to their thoughts on the recuiting and how it's going. i tend to get a lot of basically trashing me and UM as i try to get posters to just justify their opinions or back up statements with facts, but that doesn't always go so well. there are a lot of intelligent posters on this site that can carry on these kinds of conversations but there are quite a few as well that post just to "troll" me i gues you could say.

that being said, this is a great site with a great layout and full of lots of information and lot of room for just general discussion about just a little bit of everything.

Just stay away from Derrick Green.

Go checkout other college sport sites and you'll have your answer. Volnation is about 10 steps above any site I've seen.

if i had any say so in it i'd take him in a second and just have to live with everyone hating me and wanting to break down my door, and probably my face too :)

Well, in my unprofessional opinion he is Michigan bound. Holding out hope though.

i know probably just as much about the kid and where he ends up as you do, which is in the grand scheme, not a thing. that being said i'm cautiously optomistic but the more i read my opinion usually changes 4-5 times a day

Hands down this is the most organized and best run board I've found. Just wish Freak would give us different color options. The orange is blinding me.:)

I can only speak for myself, and it seems like every three months or so this questions gets asked...so here's my answer.

I post on several CFB message boards, a couple other forums dealing with college sports, in addition to writing and contributing to a CFB fan blog. I'm also a UF alum who's been following college football since the late 1970s.

VolNation is by far one of the best CFB message boards out there, and rival fans are welcome, which is why I post here.

The thought of only reading and posting on a site where everyone follows the same team, or has the same opinion couldn't be more boring to me. Understanding opposing points of view and gaining a different perspective about certain topics are much more interesting.

If you follow my posts here, I'm hardly a "pound your chest about my team on your board" guy. That's disrespectful. I understand the history, relationship and general feelings you have about UF and I try my best to be mindful of that when posting here.

That said, if my presence as a rival fan here bothers you, that's a you problem...take it up with the mods.

You'll be pleased to know I also think Waco is a jackass, so there's that.

Go Gators. :hi:

You spelled **** wrong

on another note - heard an interview with your namesake (L Wright) on Sirius the other day. I gotta say I loved listening to the guy he was funny and was a great interview, and a very proud gator.
However he did feel the need to point on several occasions his dominance of Manning.

Must be rough watching him in the NFL in the PLAYOFFS

Thanks, the bunker mentality of some locals on CFB message boards is disturbing, but I get it.

The "why are you here" posts get tired and played.

If rival fans are that big of a nuisance simply by their existence, you're either too stupid to use the ignore feature, or too insecure to co-exist. That applies to all message boards, not just this one.

Or we dont join a vol forum to hear gators? i dont really give a **** but too insecure to co exist? jesus dr phil

mostly, what LW said.

but today, specifically, i was expecting a "girls of florida getting its *** whipped" thread

As much as I love rubbing UF's nose in it when they go down, the truth is I would have loved for Tennessee to have made the Sugar Bowl. Instead we were on the couch like last year. Ill save my razzings and shenanigans for when we finally beat UF again.

As a general rule, I don't "thumbs-ups" or "like" posts from rival fans, and I would not have done it for this one if not for the bolded statement above. You get a "like" Gator.

Uh, I'm a member here because I am a UT addict and can't get enough. And no, I don't belong to any other teams sites. No Gatornation, Dawgnation, etc. Those are for horse$h!t teams.

1) Because VN>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>any FL, Bama, SCjr, GA, etc. website. When you get down to it and strain out the BS, this site is the best FREE site for Vol info in the country.
2) Why aren't you on theirs? I still have an account on the NCSt website and IF I can find a relevant FL and GA site I may go over there and make an account. I don't see them as giving us an inordinate amount of crap on our site. 99 gets out of hand sometimes but I think he is a closet UT fan much the same as I am a closet Bammer. He refers to UT as WE a whole lot.

Besides, if it was just us, who would we give crap too? Giving Sparta and Goat hell all the time gets old.
