Tom Smith commits to the Vols

I'm sure that running backs are lining up to play behind our OL right now. Remember three stars is better than two. I'm going to be LMAO if this guy blows up this year and FSU or the Bammers jump all over him.

That will be funny, unless of course he actually decides he wouldn't mind running behind one of their lines instead of ours.

i dont like it necessarily. no other top program is going after him. and this means we wont even be in the wilder race as we had previously become because he wants to play rb and assuming we are trying to get justice hayes and d arnett as a package...i dont know. i just didnt really think he was a take at this time.

His offer list doesn't look too bad.Has offers from Colorado,Pitt,Utah and Wisconsin.Plus has Notre Dame,Alabama,Florida State,Cal and Georgia Tech showing interest and probably at least a couple of them will offer soon I think.43rd rated rb in the nation according to Rivals,59th according to Scout and 66th according to ESPN.

Can all the Dooley haters please let the guy bring in the type of players he likes and let him get a chance to coach them and stop bashing the guy for not havin a group full of 5* I'm pretty sure national signing day is about 7 1/2 months away. Let's not forget he brought in Justin Hunter, Da Rick and was able to keep a lot of committs from bolting with less than a month on the job and our program was in shammbles at the time.

And FWIW, quit bringing up Mike Edwards. Doing so kills your credibility in the argument. He was a 3*, just like all of our current signees.

Proof that 3 stars are fine. Mike Edwards was a baller and would have been a solid player. To bad he was a punk with no character, which Kiffin paid no attention to.

I think part of the compliant isn't just their stars, but the offer sheet. The players we've gotten to commit...To get them, we're competing with the middle to lower tier teams.

Remember Michael Taylor last year? Remind me of his offer list at this time of year, then where he ended up. What you consider a weakness may actually be a strength in evaluation.

bro, do not make any excuses for Dooley on this pick up. by the time January rolls around, Tom smith will have run for another 1800 yards and will be a 4* RB

kid is ranked as the 60th best player in the state of florida (the same state who had 20+ players in the rivals top 150) and people are crying in their milk. LOL sometimes I forget where Im posting

Tauren Poole had 3 stars and i think anyone on this board agrees it was a toss up between him and BB for the starting spot.

The poster's argument against him was his character, not his ability to play. His assertion was that with high-talent comes low-character.

I'm telling you what they're thinking, not what I'm thinking.

Exactly. I'm still not convinced Brown is the better back. I am convinced Poole never got an opportunity.

You can tell by his video he runs faster than a 4.82. If he was that slow he wouldn't have been able to break so many long runs.

Rivals has him at a 4.5 40 and ESPN has him at 4.82....that's kind of a large difference there...good size though....looks like a decent back...I'm not complaining

As are many fans. Many of our fans think that, just because Kiffin took a job at USC, every single choice he made while at UT was incorrect and done to hurt the Vols.

Janzen and Oku are working out pretty well. Teague and Walls, too.

Good point but lets be real on the highly rated guys, we could field a contender with busts - Chris Donald, Brent Vinson, Brent Shaeffer, James Banks, Demetrice Morley, Walter Fisher, Kenny O'Neal, EJ Abrams-Ward...etc etc.

For now, ill just just take crappy old 3* that no florida school wanted (Dan Williams) or 2* Montori Hughes and cry myself to sleep.

I like how he uses the blocking in front of him and it looks like he makes some very quick cuts.
