Good point but lets be real on the highly rated guys, we could field a contender with busts - Chris Donald, Brent Vinson, Brent Shaeffer, James Banks, Demetrice Morley, Walter Fisher, Kenny O'Neal, EJ Abrams-Ward...etc etc.
For now, ill just just take crappy old 3* that no florida school wanted (Dan Williams) or 2* Montori Hughes and cry myself to sleep.
Unless he has 5 stars and is ranked in the top 10, then some on here are gonna B and G about this commit.
Can all the Dooley haters please let the guy bring in the type of players he likes and let him get a chance to coach them and stop bashing the guy for not havin a group full of 5* I'm pretty sure national signing day is about 7 1/2 months away. Let's not forget he brought in Justin Hunter, Da Rick and was able to keep a lot of committs from bolting with less than a month on the job and our program was in shammbles at the time.

I've been informed that Tom is not available yet to talk about his decision because the visit is still going on so I figured I would take care of a quick breakdown about Tom. First off this is a damn good pick-off for Coach Dooley. What you have to remember that this year the state is very loaded with running backs with prospects like Mike Blakely, Mike Bellamy, Marlin Lane, Dee Hart, and so on. I would say Blakely is the top big back but Tom Smith is the right there behind him.
Eric Berry. Chris Walker. Ben Martin. Jacques McClendon. Demonte Bolden. Wes Brown. Montario Hardesty. Rico McCoy. Chris Scott.
Sure, we've had our string of busts. We've also had a few good recruits work out pretty well too. It's just the game called recruiting.
Also, for those star gazers or ranking lovers I'll make a prediction that by the end of the year this kid will be inside the top 35 of overall prospects in the state. I'll also say it would surprise me if he wasn't a four star by the end of the year. I love his running style, very fluid. Would like to see him pop his runs more to the outside because he does have good speed and get utilized more out of the backfied with his hands.
Also, on the recruiting front Tom has interest from just about all the teams in the Southeast but as I said before you have to understand the depth this year in Florida at this position. You also have to take into consideration the type of offense that fits his skills in running between the tackles, utilizing his vision. Tennessee is perfect for both.
One could argue that some of those actually didn't work out or haven't yet for the ranking they recieved. For a 5* Ben Martin really hasn't been great considering he is about to be a senior and still hasn't locked down a starting DE spot. Also I'm pretty sure Demonte Bolden was ranked a 5* by some recruiting service and compared by some as the next John Henderson, but he really didn't get any considerable playing time until his Sr. year and that wasn't anything amazing. Only homerun on that list was Eric Berry and Chris Walker has done great for a 4* he was.

2 of the above were 5 stars - Walker was a low 4 high 3 and id take him any day over Ben Martin. McClendon got beat out by a walk on.
McCoy/Scott/Brown were serviceable - but ill still take Spencer Riley, Trey Teague, Scott Wells, Jarvis Reado, E-Mo, Eddie Moore, Marvin Mitchell, Kevin Mitchell, Dominique Stevenson and my other non-higly recruited guys and get after it w them.
EB is EB - once a generation.
Bolden was a 5* that i would not take over Dan Williams or Montori.
Its definitely a game called recruiting - But I will give the guy the benefit of the doubt since he helped build Saban's team and plucked Lennon Creer and Rolando Melancon from UT.
